When dish upgraded my dish and receivers they gave me a DISH 1000 that sees 110,119 and 129. I have seen other dishes called TURBO HD. What is this new dish and why did DISH Network give me a dish 1000 and not a TURBO HD dish.

I sub to all of the HD channels.

Turbo is refering to Dish packages and not a dish by itself. You had Bronze Turbo HD, Silver Turbo HD, and the Gold Turbo HD. They are HD only channel packages.

Dishnetworks 1000.4 eastern arc Dish (61.5/72/77) had a large logo stamped in black ink on it that said "Turbo HD".

This was a short term marketing thing that lasted (4-6 months) during the time they were first advertising the HD only packages.

MPEG4 HD video was the basis for this marketing term.

Local channel feeds,Line of sight issues or the equipment in the installers truck may have been factors in the equipment that was installed at your home/business location.

MPEG4 is the chosen standard for HD programming at Dishnetwork.

The "TurboHD" dish you refer to was a 1000.2. Some have "TurboHD" on them, some don't. A 1000.2 sees the same sats as a 1000. Other than appearance and outputs for up to 2 duo receivers (1000.2 has outputs for up to 3 duos) there is not much differance between the two.

Exactly. A little over a year ago, Dish changed the graphics printed on the 1000.2 and 1000.4 dishes to read "Turbo HD" instead of "Dish 1000". It was purely a marketing tie-in, and the dishes are otherwise identical to their Dish 1000-marked counterparts.

This Dish 1000.4 from last year was marked "Turbo HD":

Dish 1000.4's made today are only marked "Dish Network".

While both the 1000 and the 1000.2 are labled 1000's, there are some obvious differances between these two. If the OP's HD upgrade took place in '05 or '06 it is possible that he received an actual 1000.
