The DirecTV person came yesterday and checked out my installation. The multiswitch was not replaced--not a surprise. The dish alignment was spot-on. He checked all the connectors and the signal strengths, and no issues were found.

Withing five minutes of his departure, I heard the distortion on the music channels again. I'll report back to DirecTV so I am on record as claiming (as we all do) that this is a signal problem, not a local equipment problem.

Note that I was using a DirecTiVo (Hughes HDVR2) unit, and was getting
this problem for some time (several weeks). I just installed a DirecTV
HD DVR (HR23-700) and it sees this problem as well.

I'm experiencing this issue also. My dad has DirecTV too at a different address. I had him tune to 866 while I was listening to 864 and we heard the distortion at the same exact time on two different channels. I have an HR22-100 and he has an R15-300.

Definitely not a problem with anybody's equipment.

I've given up. I'll be listening to internet radio (which I think is better anyway) until they get this fixed.

That's what your supposed to do--I gave up in may-- You Pay for a service and know one is willing to look at it or even admit that there is a problem no matter How many times you report it.

Welcome to the renewed American Spirit.

It's still horrible. It seems to be getting worse, too. We were listening to The Strobe today and the sound would break up every other song.

Still happening with me as well. This is definitely a transmission problem. I'll keep posting about this until it is resolved.:(

I only listen to Symphony Hall on 864, but it does the distortion a lot. However this issue is happening all over the channel spectrum for D*, just see the Brrrrriiiiip thread in the general forum, so I do not think it is limited to the XM channels, but is a general issue with D*. I have thought about going to FioS but their DVR is poor at this point.

    Hi,

I still had the distortion--if anything, more distorted and more
frequently--on most programs yesterday on 836, The Loft. However, I
noticed that it did not happen on David Johansen's program (Mansion
of Fun) from 12-3 ET; I hope that information helps someone to fix
it, unless they indeed are fixing it, channel by channel, or
transponder by transponder. Crossing my fingers.... [IMG]

Got back from vacation last Tuesday and have been listening to a lot of the music channels, and I haven't heard a single instance of the distortion that I have been experiencing for the last several months. I wonder if it is fixed now? What are others experiencing?

I listened to Symphony Hall yesterday for much of the day and didn't hear it once. I think they finally fixed it and it's about time too.
