I don't mind paying $10.99 for HDTV, and I don't mind paying $5 extra for the new HD pack. It's the $49 Total choice "non-HDTV" channels that I don't want anymore!!!!! I want an HD ONLY deal!

Dude, In case you might be interested or accidently learn how to read in the near future You will be paying for something you did get for free. :p
    That's the whole point.

Wrong again. I will be paying more for something I'm getting more of. Is it worth an extra 5 bucks a month? Maybe. Maybe not. Bottom line is they are a private company in a free market economy. They are entitled to charge whatever the market will bring for their product. Accepting this does not make people habitual victims as you would suggest.

If I find that I never watch the channels included in the extra pack, then I will drop it.
It's that simple. Oh. And since you insist on continuing to "remove all doubt", why don't you provide us with an example of someone claiming that DirecTV is "raising the price for our own good." I've seen a lot of people make my point, but nobody claiming it's for our own good. One more tip. If you are going to attempt to insult someone's reading ability, you may want to spell check your post first. :nono2:

I work with battered women so while I don't like the analogy, I agree in principle. We were told over and over that there would be no increase with the new channels and yet they find a way to increase it by calling it a new package. The ten dollars we have been paying was a lot for the limited number of old HD. They seem to find a way to nickel and dime us whenever possible. I have has NFLST since for the past 7 years and cannot believe how every year it gets more expensive and we have to pay for SF to get HD.

    I agree!!!

I think a largere issue is that EVEVNTUALLY all channels will be in HD for various packages tiers similar to what we have now for SD.

So ALL of us who started paying for HD BEFORE all the upgrades, have paid for all the improvements.

I am really annoyed that there arent better ala carte options myself. I want FSN Detroit, but it is the ONLY channel in the sports pack that I would actually watch, I cant really justify $12 for one channel.

Oh well, thats MY rant for today.

Allrighty then.... talk about being wound way too tight. The OP that is.

There is a simple solution for you. If you don't like what DirecTV is charging, then you can adjust your subscriptions accordingly, as you seem to have done with Sunday Ticket or cancel and find a new provider. No need to go off on everyone else who is satisfied with their service.

No, I have not. But I do see a difference in calling to get a better deal and whining about being ripped off.

None of you fanboys seem to care that the company said many times there woould be no price increase. I will likely pay it but I do think those of us who paid 10 a month for many months with the assurance that don't worry the new channels are just around the corner and you will get them all with no price increase have the right to be annoyed. I know every year there is an adjustment because of programming costs but there is no way anyone can argue that the company didn't mislead us in continuing to say there would be no price increase when the new channels came online.

Why do people like yourself take everything personally, If you feel persecuted by someones remarks on an internet forum then your skin is way too thin. My remarks were addressed to those folks that always take the moral high ground or are passive in nature and instead of protesting will conjure up some justification for any changes in services or subscription increases a provider decides to apply. If that describes you then so be it but I will not apologize. When they start the new extra cost tiers of programming you already pay for you will remember this post. The only reason it doesn't happen now is there is very little HD programming available on any of the new channels.

I'm all for tiers if they increase my freedom to choose what I want for a reasonable price. Unfortunately for every Sci Fi HD or FX HD caliber channel in a tier you will also be getting 4 or 5 of the dreck like Ion HD, Spike HD, Style HD, FOX Business HD etc.

The unfortunate thing is DTV has devised a method that punishes anyone that chooses not to pay. I will still be paying $10 for HD Access but my package has considerable less value due to the percentage of 100% HD content being removed. It is this content that lured us into spending upwards of a Thousand dollars (HDTivo) in hardware in 2004 and hundreds since then in Dish and DVR upgrades. Unlike others thay may gripe I have spent considerable amounts every month since 2001 and thought this rollout was my payback for being a good customer. Also, I'm not one of those leeches that calls up everyday to threaten leaving unless they give me something for free. I just want what I believe was promised many moons ago.
