My bill was generated on the 4th, the grandfathered DVR is still there.
You also get the regional sports channels with Premier.
I tried premier 4 months ago and got nailed for dvr fee for each dvr and could not get that rectified. I actually saved $ 6 a month using hd dvr plus package with movies added. I don't watch sports so the premier wasn't for me.
David, are you saying they were charging you the $5.99 DVR fee twice (sine you have two DVR’s)? That’s not correct on any plan D* offers – one DVR fee covers the entire account. Of course they could change this at any moment, but unless it happened in the last few days, it has not.
Correct. The RSNs are part of the Sports pack sold as a premier package.
i had the same thing happen when i added and replaced a receiver. my programming had to be accidentally re-added, and they fixed it by giving me a credit of 5.99 each month. it definitely can be done.
yes, with only 2 dvr's (at that time) I had $20 a month in dvr/receiver fees. 2 dvr fees and 2 receiver fees. they refused to correct this so I dropped the package. now, from our discussion in general forum, it looks as if I'm on the plus side of the fees right now so in the end I guess it evened out.
This just happened to me. My latest bill had the $5.99 added on to my account. The CSR said she no longer had the option of grandfathering the DVR, but she did offer me $10 credit for 6 months and left a note for the next CSR to offer another 6 month credit when I call back in. We'll see how that goes, but for now I'm satisfied with the credit...
Thanks for this thread. It made me check my bill more closely and I see that I started getting charged for the dvr service fee in September. So that was 2 months without me noticing. Guess I should pay better attention, but that's why its good to have a backup like this forum. Great place to be.
So I called CSR, explained what had happened. She then credited me $5 for 3 months. And said the bills from now on would not include that charge. We'll see, like we all say.
One thing. I asked why suddenly I was getting charged for DVR service. She asked if I had any equipment added or replaced. I had replaced an older HD-DVR that was not working with a HR 20-100, I think it is. She said that may have been why, since sometimes when a new DVR gets activated, it gets put in the system as a new DVR and service and that might have been why.
Yes, according to the CSR adding/activating a new/replacement receiver might cause this issue. She also mentioned that adding a new package (HD Extra, for instance) could have been the culprit since it altered my package. The CSR I spoke with informed me that until recently they had an option to remove the DVR fee, however they no longer had that option which is why she offered me the 6 month $10 credit. Escalating the issue would have probably resolved it, but I was happy with the credit. And yes, we'll see what happens in 6 months when I call back and refer to the note she left on my account.
Just a little info for those of you who are having this problem.
I had the same thing happen to me after I was sent a replacement dvr recently. I checked my account online & sure enough, there was the monthly charge for dvr service. I called & explained to the csr that I was not supposed to pay extra for the dvr service since I've had the premier package for 2.5 years. Initially, he said that there was nothing he could do but then tried something that worked. He turned off dvr service on my account & the turned it back on. The monthly charge was gone.
