DVR Scheduler (formerly Remote Booking) Issues / Discussion

    I tried it both through the website and with my phone and got it to work.

    The website just worked - no issues.

    The phone had some hiccups. Initially when my phone tried to connect I got a message saying my phone is not supported. I suggest giving it a second try later because my phone WAS able to work (somewhat) a little later. I successfully scheduled a manual recording, but the searching functions popped up saying I needed a plugin or something, but I haven't been able figure that one out yet. This is a real beta guys, glitches and all. I tried to do another search just now and I'm not getting a reply, I suspect it's being worked on or overwhelmed.

    For those interested my phone is a Motorola ic902

    I was getting the January 23rd notice this morning, but m.directv.com is now working on my mobile.

    Try logging out and then back in (from the D* website) to see if that helps.

    For me it takes what seems to be about 15 - 25 seconds for the progamming information to populate.

    Using my computer, I programmed a recording for my R15-100 and it worked perfectly.

    "Hal" is behaving tonight!

    I tried some remote booking from my iPhone. I found one issue. After you select a program to record and you choose new search the old search data remains in the entry box. It should really be cleared on a new search or a clear button should be created.

    Yes you will have a choice. It will ask you bedroom, living room etc.:)

    Now, I can't get on the mobile site or get the regular site to set a recording. Both sites just hang. Maybe too much traffic on the sites.

    LOLOL I just tested this and for whatever reason picked a show off of FoodHD and of coures it did NOT hit my DVR. (as others have reported)

    After about 15 minutes I read through the posts and see that others are having an issue with FoodHD so I picked a show off USAHD and it hit my DVR in seconds!

    As far as DoD and DVR Scheduler, I have DoD on my HR20-100 and it works perfectly on the unit, but I have no link in the listings to display DoD shows. I refered to the screen shots Earl posted in the sticky, and I see the link in his shots, but the link is not on my Directv.com listings page. :( I have DoD because it's working....

    Thanks guys, but nope that didn't work. Does it matter which browser were using?
    I've tried it on Firefox 2.0.0.11, Beta 2, IE7, and Safari..

    Edit: It was my firewall causing the problem.

    I have an LG enV and it does that also. Probably means that it isn't compatible. (?)

    Earlier today I did not have the record option, later I did, but as many people pointed out, clicking on it brought up a new window with the homepage.

    It started working earlier this evening and it did schedule the record (and the record completely successfully) - also received an email confirming the scheduling of the record.

    The one thing I did find, not sure if it is by design but at this point I believe so, is that while I have the site remember me and it shows that when I access it, unless I actually click login and enter my password, I won't see the record option. Perhaps this is a sort of security feature, but took me awhile to figure that out vs. why I was not seeing the record option (I believe that is why I did not initially see it when I first tried it).

    But I can confirm it is working and I believe even if the site recognizes you, you need to go through the login in order for the record option to show up.

    Same with me. No DoD listings in my Directv.com listings (or m.directv.com listings).

    This is way cool. I have scheduled several different shows and they came through immediately. I even scheduled a show already in progress and the little orange record light came on straight away. I like this feature a lot.

    I was a little bit disappointed that the soft rollout appeared to be only for the HR20-700s, but lo and behold, my HR20-100 also received it today (I checked yesterday and the option wasn't there, so I know it happened today). One neat thing is that you can search for a show, and the results will have a tab with the "Record to Receiver" options. Much easier than using the DVR search, especially since you can display from 25 up to a 100 results. The Search box is just the standard D* web search box on the upper right side of the page, but if you select "TV and Pay Per View", the results will be limited to programs in the guide. Neat!

    I got this...

    We're sorry, but your request failed to start recording to your DVR. This may have happened for several reasons, including:

    * Your request was initiated too close to program beginning
    * There was an telephone service disruption

    We suggest you try to record again. If you are still unable to start recording, please call Customer Service for assistance.

    .... the recording I picked is 4 hours from now.... Does my HR-20 need to be plugged into a phone line for this to work?

    Does the HR20 need a firmware update for this functionality to work? I'm still not seeing the option to record in the Directv.com TV listings.

    It seems this feature needs to be a bit more reliable. :)

    Out of the 3 recordings I scheduled remotely today 1 successfully recorded, 1 did not record for a mysterious reason, and 1 failed because the program "was no longer available."

    Hopefully D* will get this all worked out soon. This is a very neat feature that I've been looking forward to.
