E! HD will be available on DTV starting April 25th
I think the only times I watched E! was for some award ceremony red-carpet shows, and I hated dropping to SD those few times.
It's good to have a new HD channel joining the fold, even if it's not a channel I watch all the time...
+1......While not a fan of E! I'm happy for those who are.
Why does DTV always pick channels that aren't that popular? E, Tru TV, what about TCM, TV Land, DIY, etc? I would even take QVC over Tru TV....
Aren't that popular? E! and TruTV were 32nd & 18th in ratings, respectively in 2011. TCM & DIY didn't make the list, however TVLand was 25th.
The 25th is my birthday, I would have preferred H2 in HD for a present, but I will take E! Anything they add in HD is good in my book, except for perhaps a shopping channel.
The reality is that we are getting to the bottom of the barrel when it comes to channels that are not already in HD, so no one new channel is going to appeal to a large number of people. I have personally never watched E!, but it is another channel that increases the total of HD offerings. I am sure it appeals to someone.
I have you beat. I haven't watched E since they were airing reruns of Alice & WKRP in Cincinnati..
HLN might get a few more to care but outside of that you're most likely right.
I realize E! HD is now in the satellite data stream in test mode, but where does the April 25th launch date come from posted by the OP?
And that might not be the date.
Next Wednesday is not April 25. It's April 18.
I welcome all basic-cable channels in HD. (DirecTV has lots of catching up to do.)
I also wonder if adding E! is for the female demographic. Those of us that are men may not watch much on it, but more women might, and adding a channel for them is always a good thing if it's your wife that likes the channel (mine is not one of them.)
Yep, it's one of the few Series Links that my wife has that isn't in HD.
Soon it will be. Good stuff.
The only channels that my wife cares about that are not already HD are DIY and WE.
Good point! We who want TCM, BBCA, DIY, etc., do not necessarily fit the profile of the typical Directv customer. As Satelliteracer has pointed out there is more coming. However, until D14 shows up bandwidth will continue to be somewhat scarce and Directv needs to be somewhat selective in what they add, irrespective of any negotiation difficulties with the individual channels.
