This is my second report. This time using a 721. There will be 2 readings for each transponder to account for the two tuners and the different outputs of the SW64 switch. Outputs 1 (through a p[ower inserter) and 4 (Straight line about 6 years newer than the one feeding tuner 1) are being used for the 721. Clear sky, night time.

This scale is to 100 not 125 as with my last report off of a 501

When the locals were on 105 I was getting a 73 - 75 reading. It took some pretty dense clouds to lose the signal. Now it should be interesting during the first rain storm. If the locals fade out, E* will definitely be getting a call.

Getting 70 readings for Milwaukee is pretty bad, It should be at 105 like mine is for Madison.

saguaro, I had problems with 110 tps not locking on my 4900s. A download of recently released software cleared that right up.

Suggest checking to see if there's a new sw rev for you receiver.

The thing I notice now is that the numbers seem to "widely fluctuate" - if my reading is 88 - it would typically jump between 86 and 90, whereas before (and on 119), it's a pretty steady signal (not a lot of jumping around).

So joblo, do you have any contacts at Dish that you can share this information with yet (if they aren't reading this already)? :)

Looking at the information for the northeast (which i am most interested in), it would appear that Dish would be well served to:

    - Swap Harrisburg locals on 4s4 with Boston locals on 26s4. 4s4 is severely interference-limited in the south part of Spot 4 (where Harrisburg is) due to Spot 2. 26s4 has no interference problems, and 4s4 interference is a non-issue once you go as far north as Boston.

    - Figure out what is interfering with 23s5 (Baltimore locals). Can't see how Spot 8 would be interfering, but readings of 23s5 from Maryland are low. Then again, in New Jersey I get rather low readings for 23s5 (50s) and 5s5 (70s), while 31s5 (100+), which does not exist on Spot 8, is pegged.

I don't think we are in "torch mode". 4s2 is our spotbeam for the Charleston, SC DMA. When I check the signal strength on TP 4 it is always around 89-91. The other CONUS TP's are usually around 100-115.

I'm well within the spotbeam, so why such a weaker signal? Especially, with interference to folks in PA/NJ?

Here are my readings for 110. My locals are the Minneapolis-St. Paul locals. Since E*10 has been lit up I have been getting a poor signal. I only live about 50 miles from Minneapolis-St. Paul. I can not believe that this is as good as it is going to get. I was getting 105 for a signal when they were on E*8. I thought E*10 was the most advance satellite that echostar has. It doesn't seem to good when it doesn't put out a good signal for a local market.

Should we wait until our (Champaign) locals are actually lit up to give you these readings?
I was checking x-ponders 29 & 31, since I have some clients that get St.Louis or Chicago locals, but 27 seems pretty low. I'm assuming that Champaign will be going on it, but you know what they say when you assume... ;)
