I had "Time In A Bottle" by Jim Croce stuck in my head for a couple of years. I have NO idea why. I never really liked the song at all but it just got in there and would pop up at weird times.

My dominant Earworm variety is the type that causes you to wake up with a random song in your head but it leaves after a few hours. This morning it was John Mellancamp's "Crumblin' Down." What's really fun is when you wake up with a Wiggles song.

Y M C A or In the Navy ... really a tossup. There are others.

(Sometimes a Gilbert and Sullivan tune will stick in my head.)

For once I have something nicer ringing in my head the last couple of days - variations of the theme from "Superman - The Movie" by John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Aaagh! For the last year, on and off, my earworm has been "Sylvia's Mother" by Dr. Hook and it started up again today! And it's really frustrating because I don't know all the words and just keep hearing "Sylvia's mother says," and "Please Mrs. Avery, I just gotta talk to her" over and over. I tried listening to the song online but that only seems to embed it further!

    No No NO NO NO!!!

I gotta quit reading this thread........:nono:

    Slyvia's Mother by Shel Silverstein

    Sylvia's mother says, Sylvia's busy
Too busy to come to the phone
    Sylvia's mother says, Sylvia's tryin'
To start a new life of her own
    Sylvia's mother says, Sylvia's happy
So why don't you leave her alone

And the operator says, 40 cents more
    For the next 3 minutes
Ple-ease Mrs Avery, I just gotta talk to her
I'll only keep her a while
Please Mrs Avery, I just wanna tell 'er goodbye

    Sylvia's mother says, Sylvia's packin'
    She's gonna be leavin' today
    Sylvia's mother says, Sylvia's marryin'
    A fella down Galveston way
Sylvia's mother says, please don't say nothin'
To make her start cryin' and stay

And the operator says, 40 cents more
    For the next 3 minutes
Ple-ease Mrs Avery, I just gotta talk to her
I'll only keep her a while
Please Mrs Avery, I just wanna tell 'er goodbye

    Sylvia's mother says, Sylvia's hurryin'
She's catchin' the nine o'clock train
Sylvia's mother says, take your umbrella
'Cause Sylvia, it's startin' to rain
And Sylvia's mother says, thank you for callin'
And, sir, won't you call back again

And the operator says, 40 cents more
    For the next 3 minutes
Ple-ease Mrs Avery, I just gotta talk to her
I'll only keep her a while
Please Mrs Avery, I just wanna tell 'er goodbye

    Tell her goodbye
    Please
    Tell her goodbye

It's a good thing I can multitask with earworms going - it's almost a constant thing.

Any ABBA fans out there ? Waterloo, couldn't escape if I wanted to...

Or Momma Mia, or (anything from the Momma Mia musical )
    Paradise by the Dashboard light....

With a 2 1/2 year old in the house, we have become quite the Sesame Street household.

Those songs are sticky in the worst way! I spent all day yesterday singing "Who are the people in your neighborhood?" in my head ...

Today, it's "I love trash... anything dirty or dingy or dusty, anything ragged or rotten or rusty, yes I love trash!"

    Help. me.
