How can you remove/delete items from the history or can't you? It doesn't make sense to have all that info stored that is of no value.

    Thanks!

The history clears itself automatically, once it reaches a certain limit.

There is no way to manually clear it yourself, short of a full format of the system.

Why does it matter if the information sticks around?

Can the moderators update thread titles when they are generic as this one?

It only matters if it is taking up usable space that could be utilized in some other way or if this slows down the system.

It is not taking up any measurable space as far as I know. It has no effect on system performance that I've seen.

My history seems to go back 45-60 days and clears itself.

Art, I wouldn't worry too much. The amount of space that is being used by the history log is trivial when compared to a one-hour HD program. Besides, it is very likely that this space is in a reserved area anyway and would otherwise be unusable for video storage.

Let me hazard a guess and suspect some people may have recorded or ordered movies that their spouse is not aware of?

If that's the case he had better intercept the bill as well.

Well then I spose the solution to that problem would be to record about 25 shows a day for the next few days until the history changes. :)

The amount of space that is taken up by the History information, is less then 15 seconds of HD material (seriously)...

Might DIRECTV also use the History for PPV billing?

In which case, they would need for us not to be able to edit it.

PPV billing information is part of the Access Card, not the History records.

The history on my oldest HR20 (700) goes all the way back to day one that I upacked it from the box (1/3/07). Oldest entry shows software download that occured when I fired up the unit the first time.

It could also be a parent not wanting a child to be able to see certain show titles/descriptions.

    Ken,

maybe you might post in the wish list thread, something about adding History Viewing to Parental Controls. See how people respond.

...and congrats on the magic 1k!

So even with Parental Controls turned on... the title is still seen in History?
