Received this in the DirecTv newsletter this morning

Saturday, November 17 -- Epix Special: Coldplay Live
In this feature film, you'll see LIVE footage from Coldplay's 2011 Mylo Xyloto tour and much more. Watch them perform songs off the album as well as their older work, like a rocked-out version of "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face." 8 p.m. on EPIX.

Does DIRECTV just copy and paste Dish's newsletter?

I did a google search for the exact copy that's quoted on their "News" page, and that's the only place that google is aware of that it exist. Directv did not copy and paste this - they wrote it specifically for their pages.

Was it a mistake that they put it up... i say yes but only in so far as they weren't supposed to put it up yet. The Viacom agreement did include terms for them to carry Epix albeit no requirement to do so. So it's no unreasonable to think they might be doing stuff behind the scenes gearing up for some sort of Epix launch (what that looks like - i don't know... a la carte like hbo vs included in a package) - and some web developer got a little confused.

I have a charter internet account, and I get EPIX online for no additional charge which is nice. Of Course netflix has alot of Epix's stuff so thats good too.

My mistake, I read the post too quickly, thought it was referring to a free trial to the cable/sat subscription.

What's EPIX? Is it a premium channel like STARZ? Is it HD only? What programs do they show?

If it's a premium channel, it's pretty obvious why DirecTV doesn't carry it-they can't seem to convince customers to take their EXISTING premium channels based on how many "free previews" they offer!

The free previews are conducted by the content owner's primarily, not the service providers. They are generally not exclusive to a single provider when they occur either.

EPIX weakened themselves (when it comes to new retrans deals) with their Netflix deal.
