Now that it's clear DTV has reached a deal for FS1, I hope DTV will join Dish Net and tell Disney where to go with ESPN when their carriage deal comes to an end. I have a feeling FS1 will be better than ESPN anyways next to the fact it has to be true FS1 will be way cheaper than ESPN. This could be used by both satellite carriers as well as the cable companies in putting a stop to such channels which got way out of hand on their carriage fees.

Just walking away with ESPN and not having Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Baseball, all the top tier NCAA games ESPN has since they get first pick for many leagues along with numerous bowl games, the 2014 World Cup, among other things, only to tell the subscribers "hey at least you'll have UFC, some NASCAR, some NCAA games and random MLB games"?

Good luck to any company who has to explain that one to your shareholders after every single bar and restauraunt as well as the numerous viewers who make MNF the highest rated program on cable every week during the fall season cancel their service.

Actually competition is good and tends to drive prices down, but KYL is correct in that the gorilla named ESPN can pretty much dictate terms.

The ironic thing is that if Fox does make a push and starts to bid on more sporting events, it may in fact raise prices as a bidding war may ensue between Fox and ESPN, so maybe it won't change regardless. Sport franchises must be delighted Fox Sports 1 came to the table.

NBC is going more into sports also. They scored a lot of the NASCAR races in the 2015 and beyond years.

Since ESPN costs over $5 a month (a figure claimed by many) I want to see ESPN offered as a 'premium' and not something that we all must pay for. It seems like every other choice for $5 or more is indeed an option we can say yay or nay to.

And so espn will stay close
To the same and rise slower and FOX will skyrocket to the price if espn in effect being the same end result.

Unless you can get the leagues to take less money the costs will increase overall wether its spread over one channel or ten.
