I was wondering the same thing because Matt Sarz schedule only shows a few of the ESPNU games in HD and about 85% of them in SD.

Dont know the % but i do know that they said during the first Duke game on there that it was the first one to be done in HD. I missed the RI game but I'd assume it was in HD as well.

Regardless it is pointless to wait as the main reason to have the chanell will be for basketball season since so many are put on there and Like it was said before, anytime after Feburary would be pointless, and might as well wait till August.

All Friday and Saturday football has been in HD on ESPNU, I'd imagine it will be the same for basketball this winter.

Of the 17 games scheduled on ESPNU for the week of November 17-23 NONE are scheduled to be in HD according to Matt Sarz site. I think it is different for hoops than for football. Some of these smaller host schools don't have HD equipment just sitting around waiting to be used. The big name schools will be on ESPN & ESPN2 and even then some of the games are not in HD. Would it be nice to have ESPNU-HD? Yes, but to think all of a sudden there will be tons more hoops games in HD is wishful thinking.

Considering only about half of the games on ESPNHD / ESPN2HD are actually in HD I would definitely say that very few games on ESPNU are in HD. This in NO WAY excuses D* from having ESPNU in HD already.:nono2:

If there is *any* content in HD, I want it. MTV, VH1, CMT all have basically no HD, but D* still carries the HD versions. Bandwidth is no longer an excuse.

D*'s nimbleness and quickness to add so much HD is why I moved from Time Warner to it (TWC didn't have ESPN2HD for ~2 years after launch, IIRC). I expect ESPNU-HD, even if it's only 2 games a week, available on D*. This makes me  .

I assume you're willing to pay increased monthly fees for all the content? :)

Well, I would be willing to pay a buck or 2 more. But I already have about everythign you can get from D* except internationals, Sunday ticket and baseball.

Personally, if they do an increase this year, In my opinion, it would be resonable to add a littel and let people know it is for increased programming and HD costs. Heck, blame ESPN for all I care. With all teh cablecos adding ESPNU HD in the basic tier, they will be in teh same boat.

how can DirecTV claim they "have the most sports in HD" and not have ESPNU HD? I mean come on they even have ESPNews HD! I'd rather see live games of any sport over Sports Center 24/7 any day.

Do any of you have any reliable sources about ESPNU HD's future on DirecTV, or just hearsay?

BTW for us satellite tv newbies, who or what is satracer?

Because they have the most sports in HD.

That's not the same as all sports in HD...but it's still the most. :D

I'd rather have ESPNews HD than ESPNU HD because at least I can get ESPNews HD without having to pay an extra $12 a month for Sports Pak.

    +2...rather have ESPNHD News.

That makes the score 0-4 so far for ESPNU (as a preference over ESPN HD News)

ESPN and DIRECT TV are fighting over where ESPNU should be sports pack or choice.

Comcast and a few other cable co are the same way they want it in a sports pack espn wants it in basic.

Plus I don't care much about college sports. And when I say I don't care much, I mean at all.

With the NBA season in full swing, and with huge trades flying around, I'm watching ESPNewsHD quite a bit these days.

    So I guess that's 0-5.

Yeah well if they make they kind of claim they should have EVERY AVAILABLE NATIONAL SPORTS CHANNEL IN HD, not just SOME of them.

I shouldn't complain though they got a hell of a lot more HD sports channels than Comcast ever will.
