..just heard... it's December 17, 2011!
Where did u get that from? I have directv and we want espnuhd for sports purposes so bad its on channel 614 anyway why would it be so late??? that stupid standard def channel sucks!
Yes, agreed, standard def sucks!
But, I believe that aa9vi is just pulling our chain......
IF ESPNU-HD drops its ridiculous demnand to be included in every package..
IF they reduce the amount they want for the channel...
Maybe it will see the light of day in time for the SEC Football package they have purchased beginning this fall.
that's what i am hoping for....when the sec starts up this fall, espnuHD will lower its demands.
Even if they do lower their demands, they'll have to lower them to basically giving away the channel for free before Liberty will bite.
My guess is that ESPN is counting on the opposite of that. When SEC games start showing up on ESPNU, D* customers (and DISH, ect.) are going to go crazy calling D* demanding this channel in HD, if Dish was to add it, then that would put a lot of pressure on D*, and IF COMCAST was to add it that would really put pressure on D* at least in the south.
I would give anything to have this channel in HD when Bama is playing. I am so glad Lincoln (horrible SD picture) lost the weekly game rights in favor of ESPN, but I need to see my games in HD!
Here's to hoping for a miricle this fall.
Roll Tide Roll!
LF Sports you mean?
They broadcast every game in HD last year. I got it OTA on MyNetworkTV. Great for tailgating, as it was a great picture for an SEC game.
I now have my slingboxpro HD with a 2meg uplaod at home, wont be as clear of a picture, but it will be close!
I am not going to hold my breath because I have waiting since BGSU played PITT last year (great game, not so great picture). This is one of two channels I don't get in HD that I watch.
Disney and ESPN Media Networks and DIRECTV, Inc., today announced an agreement to widen its distribution of ESPNU to DIRECTV's CHOICE™ programming package beginning July 1. ESPNU will now be available to more than 46 million college sports fans across the country. As part of the agreement, DIRECTV will also launch ESPNU HD by the end of the first quarter 2010. Additionally, ESPN Classic will be repackaged into the DIRECTV SPORTS PACK.
There u go! ESPNU HD after Directv12 is launched!
maybe we'll have it in time for the 2010 Lax season. Lacrosse in SD is not pretty.
wow, that long, the still miss the entire college football season, color me disappointed.
It is better than nothing. At least I do not have to pay $12 to watch ESPNU.
Some LF Sports (now Raycom Sports) affiliates did not have the proper equipment to broadcast the games in HD. For example FOX 28 in Savannah, while able to broadcast FOX programs in HD, did not broadcast any SEC Raycom games in HD. However CW 34 in Savannah broadcast every ACC Raycom game in HD once they installed their CW HD equipment.
Hopefully 1st Quarter means before Conference Championship Week of the College Basketball season.
True that. No need for me to ever get Sports Pack now with this and CBS College Sports off the package. Well, maybe the occasional Saturday when I can't see a Fox Sports game that is on a RSN.
So they are basically switching ESPNU and ESPN Classic? Ah well, I think that's a decent trade.
