Maybe not I have had the same package for 10 years(?) or close to it.
I never changed to a new package because I am not sure what I would lose. I still have East Coast feed of ABC (live on West Coast) that I was afraid of losing by switching packages.

Oh and thanks for your detailed info which makes sense why we aren't receiving it. Well, your answer from them explains it but still don't understand why we don't see it because of a legacy package.

I just had a DUH moment while I was on the phone with DirecTV. The games on those channels kicked off at 10:00 EDT today (15:00 BST). So they were well over with before 13:00 EDT. The channels work like RSN alternates—once the program ends, the channel goes dark and you eventually get a PPV message (this happens to me all the time on MASN2). The guy on the phone assured me they're not PPV channels as long as you have Choice XTRA or above. So I'll see how it goes for next Saturday's Newcastle game and if I have a problem I'll call them back then.

    (Edited to fix a typo)

Me too, I think. It was around 10:00 PDT (not exactly sure) and game was on 7:00-9:00PDT so it could be that I am getting them as well. Thanks for answering the question 1995hoo was very helpful.
What were you subscribed to before? I am on Choice Xtra Classic. (185 channels plus free locals and $47 worth of extra premium (HBO, Showtime, Sports Pack, Starz, DirecTv HD Extra and Audience Network).

Anyone know what the program is on Chan 220 Thursday "Premier League Match Pack" 11:30pm (PDT), Friday 4:30am (PDT) and Saturday 3:00am (PDT) ?

    Thanks

I had Choice XTRA Classic as well. I was also wary of changing anything because I was getting the NHL Network, which wasn't listed as part of the package. But Choice Ultimate was only $6 more and I didn't lose anything I cared about (most importantly, the NHL Network or NBCSN) and I got Fox Soccer Channel. So I went ahead and made the change. We don't have HBO or any of the movie stuff—we did for awhile, but we rarely watched any of them, and then I was out of work for a while a few years back so we cut back to save some money. During that period my brother-in-law gave us an Apple TV for Christmas. So we've never felt the need to re-add those. We do have the HD Extra pack. Fox Soccer Plus costs too much. We don't have Center Ice or the like because we live in our favorite teams' local broadcast area.

I would like to get beIN Sport, the network that aired the World Cup qualifier against Jamaica in June, but you have to get the Premier package for that and it's beyond our budget right now. I'm making a lot less than I did prior to the recession.

Kudos to DirecTV for their coverage of the EPL on Saturday. Their extra channels worked a treat and the fact they have signed onto the NBC app means that people can see the games online if they want to.

Football [aka] soccer fans are very grateful!!

I didn't have much luck with the online aspect this weekend. I tried watching on my chromebook but it was laggy and choppy. I couldn't watch it. Then I tried watching on my Galaxy S4 and it played fine for about 15 seconds and froze. Over and over this happened. Once they get that ironed out I'll be 100% happy. TV wise, my recording looked and sounded amazing. That aspect I'm very happy with.

There has been quite a bit of comment on the web that says the Android version of the NBCSNExtra app has a lot of issues. I'm fortunate to have the iOs version on my iPad and it works well.

The comments for the app in the Play Store say the same. Hopefully they get it resolved soon.

I've read through this thread completely and I am extremely jealous of you guys. I have the "Mas Ultra" Spanish package because I have a bilingual household and don't get NBC Sports Network. That means no extra channels for me either. I went from having a good chunk of games with ESPN/Fox Soccer and Fox Soccer Plus last year, to just whichever game they happen to thrown on the very low picture quality mun2 channel and the occasional NBC and Telemundo match. The only way to get NBCS is to upgrade to the $124 package, and that's just not going to happen. I have all the major sports networks, except for the one I really want to watch.

Does anyone know when NBCSN's contract with Directv is up?

How about getting the $70 package plus the $15 Spanish add on.

I looked into that and it looks like I would no longer get Univision Deportes if I went that route. I could get the $77 package plus the Spanish add-on, but that would just put me close to the same price range of the top Spanish package.

Terms were not disclosed when DirecTV and Versus (which is now NBCSN) settled their last carriage dispute, but for what it's worth, that occurred in March 2010.

Thought I should follow up to say it worked fine this morning (though I just turned it off since we're heading out to the golf course in a few minutes). So it was user error on my part last week.

And I must say that, for me at least, the HD picture on NBC and the NBC Sports Channel is vastly better than on Fox Soccer ever was. Deeper colors and a sharper picture, the EPL has never looked better.

Are you required to have HD access to get the extra EPL matches?

Making them HD channels does not, technically, require an account with HD access to be able to see them. The receivers and dishes are the same for a lot of customers. It is a choice by DirecTV to require that. The receivers can downgrade the resolution to put an "HD" channel on any display.
