I am thinking of adding on a movie package and was wondering what everyone's favorite was. I have had HBO in the past and Currently have Showtime. If I picked up one of the others I would mor than likely drop Showtime. With more HD coming Starz and HBO look like the best options and I certainly want HD to be a big part of my decision.

    So which is your favorite?

I've got HBO + STARZ/ENCORE. These seem to have the best movies.

Had HBO for so many years I forgot it was optional! I am going to swap SHo for Starz, more HD and better selection then Sho. Had Starz for years but switched to Sho for Tudors.

Honestly I don't know. I have the Premier package so I get all of them and unless I am watching Entourage on HBO, HBO HD, or Showtime HD I don't ever really pay attention to watch channel I am watching. I flip through the guide and look at the movies not the channels so I don't know what movie channels I am watching the majority of the time.

I tried them all and as long as Starz gets the HD channels I say its the most choices for the $$.

I say starz. it has the most new movies and usually the best too.
i'm not really into original programing so i dont care that much for HBO(hmm Home Box office.......not movies all the time....not what i expect) but it comes out second. Cinemax would be good if we actually had more that the 3 of them we have now, and i cant find a thing on Sho to watch ever.

Still i have premier so it doesnt matter to me. If i se something i like I just watch it.

For me, it's Starz. I have Starz, HBO, and Showtime but I find myself watching Starz more often. Original programing on the premium channels hasn't interested me since "The Tales From The Crypt" on HBO!!! Showtime seems not to have the new releases that come out like Starz or HBO. And Showtime movies 90% of the time seem to be rated R or TV-MA. HBO is OK and they have good movies but I don't like their porn overnight or their original programing. Starz gets the Disney releases and HBO gets Dreamworks releases. I like both those studios. HBO family is a good channel and I wish D* would add Starz Kids & Family. So HBO and Starz are nearly a must for me but if I had to pick one, it would be Starz.

I'm with BMoreRavens, I don't really notice what channel I'm watching unless it's Entourage. I just pull up the guide and see what's on.

I don't know why, but I've really come to like Big Love on HBO. Those cult leaders are just so evil and crazy...

As I said in the other thread, I have all the movie channel but my favorite is HBO. Top notch movies, great original series and the standups on HBO Comedy. Showtime is second for Dexter, Penn & Teller, a nice selection of movies from the '90s.

It depends on what you want it for. Starz seems to have the most movies, though HBO often gets the bigger hits (which doesn't translate to quality, obviously). I voted for HBO in the poll, but I do it for their series more than actual movies. Deadwood, Sopranos, Bill Maher, Carnivale - love 'em all. My wife liked Sex and the City and now can't miss Big Love. Showtime is pretty weak on the movies but I really enjoy Penn & Teller.

I don't find myself settling on Starz, Cinemax, or Encore that often. Instead, every couple of weeks when the guide has cycled, I do searches or or see what's coming on those channels and schedule shows to record. I love the Premiere package because it's nice knowing you get everything, but there's *a lot* of filler. Starz and Encore seem to have the same two-star movies repeating over and over again. But one night when I couldn't sleep, Billy the Kid vs. Dracula sure was entertaining...

Except for certain shows (and HD access), I have on idea what movie channel I am watching when I watch a movie.

    The...
I no longer watch movies in SD, so the one that offers the most HD movie channels is my favorite at the moment!

One day, all the premium movie packages will have every movie channel in HD! :joy:
