    And here in Mendocino County we have Fire rages in Mendocino Pass area northeast of Covelo-More evacuations ordered (7 p.m. Aug. 22), but as this picture shows the smoke is being blown to the northeast away from me, just the way I like it:

    Wildfires are burning elsewhere but I'd thought I'd provide updates on four fires in Northern California.

    The Fort Complex fires at the top left which began August 5 are still burning The total acreage of the three fires that are within the Fort Complex is 8,883 acres (Goff Fire - 7,500 acres; Hello Fire - 977 acres; Lick Fire - 403 acres). The overall containment of the Fort Complex is 37 percent. According to this article:
    The latest report on the Ponderosa Fire, top right, is:
    Regarding the North Pass Fire just above my town of Willits, the report was:
    You gotta love bureaucracy.

    And finally, the Chips Fire is at 61% containment having burned 66,750 acres. According to this report:
    All in all, much progress has been made, but depending on winds we still get smoke from time-to-time.

    Wildfire in Rocky Mountain National Park prompts evacuations

    DENVER | Sat Dec 1, 2012 4:37pm EST. DENVER (Reuters) - A wind-driven wildfire in Rocky Mountain National Park northwest of Denver jumped containment lines overnight, triggering the evacuation of hundreds of people on Saturday, fire officials said.

    I'm beginning wonder if there is a "fire season" any more.

    In the meantime, we're downright soggy from rain here....
