I watched the Yankees game last night on my 24-500 and experienced no audio dropouts.

But, I've been seeing something strange on the 24 and saw it again last night. I skip thru inning changes and pitcher changes. Last night the Yankees batted Curtis Granderson second. So he gets up, another Yankee gets up and the inning is over. So I skip slowly four times, and during one of the skips I see Granderson's at bat from the previous inning. I've been seeing things like this since I got the 24. Am I alone?

I've seen this happen quite a few times. I use the 24 a lot and it happens quite frequently. Not on any particular channel. Before you ask, I was dead sober. Don't drink.

    Actually that's one I DON'T have :)

I have an HR20-100, HR20-700, HR21-100 and now an HR24-500. The HR20's and 21 all exhibit this behavior at times, to varying degrees. The HR20-100 and HR21-100 are the biggest culprits. I haven't experienced it yet on the HR24 since it is so fast.

I've never had that problem with a 20-700. The other two you have are prone to screw-ups. My 20-700s seem to change channels just as fast and reliably as my 24-500. Always have.

Yep, that bug has been around from day one.
I get it mostly as I use the 30skip. Skips, skips, skips, skips and goes back to the start of skipping, freezes, then tries to sort itself out.
The best thing I can do is skip again and the skip back to where I wanted to be.
This can get "really weird" when you've been watching live TV, then start a recording and try to skip through it to where you were last watching [like when you've fallen asleep before ].
During this I was skipping around and one skip had the network news video [the live TV I'd been watching]. WTF?
Seems these receivers don't handle the buffer addressing as well has they should be.

They don't tell us exactly what was fixed but there were numerous fixes in the new release. It's their prerogative to tell us what was fixed or not, they don't have to and that's not "so people don't think that they have real problems". There are numerous people who have noticed more than just "pretty pictures" in the newest release.

If you have a sincere interest in knowing what's in an update, instead of just complaining, then I suggest you check out the CE forum and be part of the test team where you can make a difference.

You are not alone. Random skipping on the HR24-500 is a known issue and being worked on.

Oh good! Glad I'm not alone. Doesn't bother me, but I was curious. Thanx.

I've stayed away from the 24 discussions. No real reason other than I don't have any serious problems with my 24. Figured it would be easier to ask the question than root thru a long thread.

I have a question about firmware updates yet. Say update xx00xx00 was released starting with the Pacific coast and there are issues, is that same revision # tweaked and continued released...kinda like slipstreamed?

Usually not. It will problably be incremented and have a new release number.

There have been a few times where a new release starts to go out and issues are reported so that release is stopped and the issue fixed. Then the new release is rolled out. Each time however the version # is incremented.

I wonder if we have something similar here. The tested version of the new HR2x software was 0x040A. The national release is 0x040D.

Major slowness on my HR20-700 too. 10 second delay when taking any action in the List (including selecting a recording, starting a recording, deleting, etc).

Im still stumped about the 3D release I forced and caused issues, rolled it back because that was in stream still and my HR22's worked fine again. I unplugged my receivers for a few weeks but did take the update again and they worked fine.

We all know how I can piss and moan and I did my share several weeks back about this. I guess only God knows what occured...lmao.

Are you using a new internal or external drive? If not, it might be the hard drive. As I've said, I haven't had that problem with my 20-700s so I don't think it's a "common" problem.

I just had that type of slowdown on a 21-700 and a 24-500. Same week, probably the same day. I find that strange.

I gather a Menu>Restart didn't solve the problem? Solved the problem on each of the above mentioned HRs.

But, the 20-700s are not new. Four years old now. Some of them are gonna die or have major problems. Most won't. I hope.
