Wife was watching & recording CSI Miami now. All of a sudden, ANOTHER software update during the prime time hours! WTH?!?!?

Can't D* wait til after midnight? Can't they wait to distribute updates when the DVR is not recording anything?

    This is getting OLD.

Nothing here for an update nor do I believe it is normal for them to do it during anytime other then overnight. Unless it was some critcal update similar to what has happened a couple times in the last few months when some corrupt data got into the stream and crashed alot of boxes and they had to fix it asap and forced updates

Did this update just happen or was there an option to say "no?"

I asked her about that, she said that it bugged her "over a dozen" times every couple/few minutes. After she got fed up with it, she just gave in to it.

I got an update last night at about 0300 while I was upstairs on the computer. I heard the TV volume cut out, then come back on sometime later. The blue ring of death was lit when I went downstairs. Of note, the first time I went to the System Setup->Info menu, I didn't see a version number in the Info data, nor a "last updated" date. I thought that they might have decided to hide that data from us now, but when I just tried it again, that data now shows up. This is on an HR21-100.

The last time I received an update it was at 5:00pm CST. All 3 receivers at the same time. I was wondering the same thing, why don't they do these late at night?

I got it at around 2200 or 2300 EST. I gave in after 3 attempts. There was some message about being able to view movies on demand or something. I was too groggy to know what it meant.

Generally updates do happen later, the recent set have been the exception.

We kept getting the 'Do you want an important update now?' message on our screen last night about every 10 minutes from about 9:30 eastern until we shut the lights out at 11:30.

We were watching some pre-recorded stuff as well as some live stuff at the time....

It was fun watching my wife's ears with steam coming out.

LOL Actually, her. She told me she didn't realize how long the software update process was going to take.

HR22-100 was the unit in question. Luckily, the other DVR, the HR20-100 wasn't bothered by the update. I would have blown a gasket! Not too often the Cubs play the White Sox!

Giving the option only works if your watching the TV live. What if the DVR is recording (Which is its primary function) and restarts. You lose that recording!

If they hired experienced engineers and not the cheaper ones right out of college, some of the problems would be fixed!

Got mine at 4:30 AM, this new update SEEMS so much better than the B0 disaster, I will wait a few days before making final judgement.

Both of my HR22's updated in the afternoon. I had one of them on in my office listening to CNBC, but really wasn't watching it. Suddenly the sound went away and I could see it doing the update. Not sure if there was any message asking me if I wanted to run the update. Most likely it did and when I didn't respond it started running it.

Uh .. it won't ask .. if a program is recording, the system waits for the recording to finish before presenting the option.

This seems like an odd time .. Has your HR20-100 been connected continuously over the last couple of days?

I didn't know that! So (theoretically) if a recording is either scheduled or in progress when a software update is pushed it will wait for the completion of the recording? (Even if the unit is in standby so no option can be presented?)
