I posted this on the other board but we should be getting a free preview from Epix from January 4 to January 17.

And the Showtime free preview should be January 11 to January 13.

I found this info on Channel 102 and the on-screen TV Guide.

Thanks and I see them now as well.

As a side note, it just goes to show you that some folks on the other thread who said free previews aren't supposed to start until 5:00 PM on the start day don't necessarily know what they're talking about. I have seen free previews start a day ahead (just like HBO & Cinemax now), pop up early on the start day, and even extend to an extra day. That's not to say that free previews don't start late and end right on time, but the point is, it seems different almost every time despite whatever the official Dish policy is or what they actually intended to do. For those of us who like to jump on these things as reasonably soon as possible (for recording purposes), an early start is a bonus as far as I am concerned.

It shows up when it shows up. It doesn't show up until it does.

My, that's quite profound. I guess the corollary would be, "It's on while it's on", and, "It ends when it ends". :wizardhat

So before we get into a future 'it started late' discussion --- what time are they suppose to start?

I've never seen a policy, so for me if it's no later than sometime on the scheduled date, I've always felt they fulfilled their promise

I honestly don't know. But since I pay attention to this stuff on a practical basis whenever a premium free preview comes down the pike, all I can say is that the start times (i.e., when the free channels actually show up on my guide) are often all over the map (and this can often include the stop time on the end day.

If there is a behind-the-scenes established time at Dish for the start time on the published start day (some have said it is supposed to be 5:00 PM), all I can say is that I have not personally experienced that specific start time, nor have I seen anything resembling something even close to consistency (not that I either expect that or feel that Dish has somehow totally blown it as long as things get underway sometime on the start day). That said, I tend to check my channel guide multiple times on the start day to get a head start on recording movies as soon as the free channels pop up. Understandably, other folks don't care as much about free previews or maybe watch a couple of movies and are not into recording all that much, such that they are not particularly concerned about the start or ending times.

Maybe it's the clock they're using at Dish Programming Headquarters ...

Does anyone have access to the Showtime preview that was scheduled for 1/11 through 1/13?

The HBO/Cinemax channels became available last night for me. However, the Showtime channels are not available at this time.

    Thanks for any responses.

No, they haven't showed up yet for me either. However, the last time I first questioned and then "complained" about the Epix free preview getting what I felt was a late start, I got taken to the woodshed for being unreasonable. The consensus seems to be that if any free preview starts sometime on the first day (even if later in the day), Dish has lived up to their "commitment".

Another way to look at this I suppose, is that Dish started the HBO/Cinemax free preview the day before it was supposed to happen, so if the Showtime free preview channels pop-up later on their first day, maybe it all evens out for all concerned.
