I was just watching my recording of the Friday NBC evening news on local Channel 12 here in Richmond, VA. At the 54 minute mark during a commercial the screen went black and stayed that way, with no sound until the 58 minute mark when it came back in at the end of the final story. What I would like to know is if anyone else experienced this 4 minute black out? Whether it is the result of something going on with channel 12, NBC or maybe my HR22-100.

Sorry, can't help with your actual inquiry, but... your NBC evening news is an hour long? I assume that must be your local NBC affiliate news cast.

I start it at 1800 for the local news and have added 30 minutes onto the end so I get both local and national in one recording. So we wound be talking about 24 to 28 minutes into the national broadcast.

Definitely sounds like a local issue, probably the station's fault, but it could have been DirecTV. Most likely not your DVR.

John, if your black out coincided with mine then it was the network feed. This is not the first time that I have seen this on NBC in the last several weeks.

It was not a local issue. It blacked out in Columbus, OH as well. Picture returned in the middle of the barbershop section.

Same thing happened in Buffalo, NY. Local station put up a station ID card during the blackout, so it looks like the signal to them was lost. Checked OTA and it was the same.

Went out in Burlington, VT also. OTA. The local station put up a "please stand by" screen.

With the way GE's stock and NBC's ratings have plummeted in the last few months perhaps Jeff Immelt and Zucker couldn't pay the electric bill back at 30 Rock.
