Both MSG & FSNY look comparable to NESN to my eyes. Outstanding!
I can't believe I am watching a Knicks game in HD from MSG-HD, I love it! Now I might ditch Cablevision completely. This is great
Odd, I am getting both the Knicks and Nets feeds but NBA-HD channel has only the Nets feed.
Change in NBA policy or mixup on first day of MSG?
I'm getting Devils game in HD on NHLCI (which I sub to) FSNY... also getting Nicks game on MSGHD 621 even thought I'm not a NBALP sub... I"ll take it.
I have pretty good surround system( Lexicon processor), and I am not getting the NJ Devils game in DD...I have the reciver set for DD, and all the other stations are OK, but not FSNY HD........ In fact the info on the game says Stereo
Ah, that explains it. They forgot to black it out.
BTW, MSG pretty.
Shhhhhh...don't let them know.
Too late. They just blacked it out.
Tony you spoke too loud. The MSG blackout just kicked in.
Guess I had better yell about some other things and get something done around here!
MSGHD is in 2.0 correct? Not showing on my receiver as 5.1 on the Knicks game. Looks beautiful btw.
They should use an OTA antenna in Buffalo (or somewhere in Niagara County, NY) and fiber it from there. Isn't that how they do locals anyway?
But they do have HNIC feeds for Center Ice, right?
It's awesome to have HNIC here in Buffalo with my OTA. (Too bad I can't add it to my HR20-600 w/o some crazy secondary DMA setup -- easy enuf on my H20).
You are getting DD 2.0 which is stereo. All HD channels use Dolby Digital just not always 5.1. MSGHD and FSNYHD broadcast DD 2.0. They do not do 5.1. Maybe they will upgrade one day. The only New York RSN that does DD 5.1 is YES Network. SNY is DD 2.0 stereo only also.
remember when ESPN-HD used to use that Circle Surround crap? thank god we don't have to deal with that garbage any longer.
Yes, NHL CI has HNIC CBC feeds, but are only in SD. No HD at this time, due to the fiber issue currently. Hopefully, someday soon, they'll be able to grab a CBC HD feed for HNIC on NHL CI. We also don't get the Canadian HD feeds from TSN, Rogers, etc.
Canadian HD feeds from CBC, TSN, and Rogers SNET are available without fiber.
Then D* just probably needs decoders to receive these feeds as well as carriage agreement with the NHL and the networks to pass them along via NHL CI HD. This would be the last piece of the puzzle, as far as I am concerned!
Maybe Satelliteracer can shed some light on whether D* is looking into this?
