I called them a few times and they told me it was just a problem with me, LOL They finally came out to my house and replaced my dish and my receiver, still no luck. They told me it must be my receiver. So I just leave it on dolby and I watch FX without the dolby on.

Anybody heard of any solutions to this audio dropout problem when in Dolby Digital on a Denon receiver?

I used to not have the DD dropout problems on TNT or TBS. It's now on both. I noticed it several weeks ago on TNT & just a few days ago on TBS. Is this Directv messing w/ the audio or is it TNT & TBS? Seems like I never used to have this problem on CNN but now have it there, too.

I have zero dropouts on my Denon that aren't related to signal glitches, slight Loss of signal etc., you'll need to be more specific which model Denon you are referring to. My model is in my sig, its last years model, and b4 that I had another Denon a year or 2 older. If you are talking about Denon's from more than 4 years ago or so, there are some potential firmware updates.

Mine is the Denon AVR-1802...think I purchased it about 5-6 yrs ago. I've done resets, changed out the optical cable and nothing has worked. I've written Denon. They say it's the program source even though I had the same problems on certain HBO movies when I had Dish network. The electronics store I bought it from has never heard of the problem either. The only place I've found this problem mentioned is on forums like this and on the Directv forum.

Yesterday I tuned in TBS & TNT & expererienced no dropouts while using the optical & listening in Dolby Digital..I thought alright this has been fixed. That hope was quickly dashed when tuning into one of the other problem channels like Fox Biz HD & Fox News HD, FX HD, etc...

I guess I have a new excuse to update my amp

I absolutely love my new 2809CI, best of the 3 Denon's I have had so far. Some of the older models 5-6 years or more seemed to have some issues with the auto mode and wouldn't lock on very well causing the sound to drop out.
