Okay some of you may have read my previous post about getting a slimline dish on a vent pipe..

Well I found a friend of the family that will do the kind of install that I want, however I dont know how to actually get Directv to just send me the damned dish for the installer...

Apparently the lady over the phone said that DirecTv will not send dishes to customers even though I paid for it. Do I have to resort to buying it 3rd party online?

I have an install scheduled for Thursday, can they just leave me the dish and go? THanks for any responses.

I've given away a good number of phase 3 dishes to customers with rvs etc. I have never given away a slimline, or left one at an install I couldn't/wouldn't do. I doubt your installer will leave the dish, simply because it is hard for us to get ahold of them ourselves.

If you offer the installer some $$$ he may conveniently forget what he did with it. You most likely will have to order it through a third party though.

You will probably have to buy one from a 3rd party online store. Through DIRECTV you should not have had to pay for it and you probably are not. The dish and multi-switch is a free upgrade through DIRECTV. As far as the installer leaving it for you to have it installed I doubt it will happen. Over the last few months it seems that all installers are making sure everything is installed and up and running before they leave because some of them have not be getting paid for certain things that they have left and not installed.

for the responses guys. My guy said that he can actually get me a dish if I cancel my service and reapply through him. Also, if anyones interested, my favorite online retailer newegg sells dishes, and at pretty reasonable prices as well. Check it out:

So you have a problem with things falling off your truck do you?
My installer left a slimline as a spare to my AT9 [just in case].

You can probably do better on Ebay but shipping charges on the dish can be killers, it is big and heavy 1 or 2 states away might be reasonable but accross country may kill savings.:)
