Did you get the BBC for it?
If you don't have a SWiM, it needs BBCs and they don't come in the box.

Are "Hide HD Duplicates" turned on instead of "Hide SD Duplicates?"

What does your old receiver use/have?
Only the 23s don't need the BBCs if not on a SWiM.

While a good question, remember this is a new box/install.

my old receiver does not use bbc, that is why i assumed i would not need one with a new hr-24. i thought these things had everything. csr thought bbc was built in too.

    Easy check:
Go into the SAT level screens and see if you get anything off the 99 & 103 "c" transponders.

    Here's a simple test:

Are there 2 coax plugged in the back?
    If yes, then order BBCs.

The 2 cables answers your question about not being SWiM.

Although if anyone ever wants to check if you have a SWiM, you can simply press the dash key on your remote. If it is, the word SWiM will display on your TV screen.

Well, not exactly. Before I upgraded to MRV and SWM last week, my HR23 behaved exactly as you described.

Interesting, but are you sure you didn't already have the SWiM LNB and they simply added DECA and MRV to your current setup? Most of the more recent installs did get SWiM and you have HR23's & HR24's which are the most recent DVR's.

talked to a csr, he sent me out 2 bbc at no charge, plus a $5 credit for a few months for my "troubles" very nice guy. should be here monday, providing fedex are delivering on the 5th july.

once i get the hr24 sorted out, i had planned on adding the whole home dvr. this requires an upgrade to the swim, correct? my question is, how is the swim different from the non-swim set up i currently have? what are the advantages/ disadvantages with swim?

i just can't understand why the new top of the line receivers would require extra equipment to view hd programming w/o swim.
