Up and running. A few observations:

    1. Tuner is an excellent performer. UHF loop in bedroom producing excellent signals (built in low noise preamp at loop), with no pixellation on any channels that I receiver. One channel is missing. It is low power and has always had a poor signal. Super sharp pix! Of course the signal meters are reading zero as others reported.

I am super impressed with the performance on nothing but a non-multi-path discriminating loop. I expected some multi-path problems and I don't see ANY. When the signal meters start working, I'll compare to the Sanyo, but at first glance, it appears the tuner in the AM21 is superior to the internal tuner of my Sanyo 37". I'll need to do a split and compare signal levels.

    2. Setup had to be entered manually. Went without incident.

    AUDIO BUG REPORT

When changing channels from SD local to HD OTA, audio disappears. Changing from one OTA-HD channel to another OTA-HD channel directly from the keypad, no audio loss happens. This is 100% reproducible.

Go to a local via satellite and then go to an OTA-HD via the AM21...there will be no audio. It may come after a time, I haven't experimented that far yet.

I went into the guide and took out all the SD locals, so now when I hit channel up starting at 5-1, I get 8-1, 8-2, 11-1, 11-2, 11-3, 13-1, 13-2, 17-1, 17-2, 23-1, 56-1 in sequence and the audio is not a problem. If I go 5 sat to 5-1, there is no audio. If I go 5-1 to 8-1, the audio comes back, but if I alternate SD-LIL > OTA-HD, I have no audio on the OTA-HD channels.

Good tip, but I work around it by not viewing SD-LIL...much better pix via the AM21, and leaving it as is allows me to test for the bug fix. Nice alternate work-around, though...thanks.

Received the AM21 on Friday afternoon. The shipping address was incorrect so I had to pick it up at FedEx will call. No biggie.

Checked the H21 and I received the push so I am good to go.

I plan on installing the AM21 tomorrow.

Tried to turn on receiver locked up probably due to network connection
    reset rcvr
    1) had to redo network setup
2)all the ota locals deselected in the "edit off-air channels" list were reselected

When I access the menu for Music, Photos and more only ONE of the media servers shows up. The only media server it sees is WMP11 not the TVersity or WindowsMedia Connect Servers

You may need to restart sharing on TVersity and add device to media server.

I got mine doing Media Share just fine, but my receiver is not connected to a phone line (I don't have one) and I was hoping the ethernet connection would allow me to PPV from the remote but all I get is "check phone line or internet connection".

    Oh well, hopefully soon.

As for the AM21, I have the audio issue. I can tell that basically my receiver is not picking up Dolby Digital again unless I come from a Dolby Digital channel previously so exactly as people have already described and it sounds like they are aware of it already.

Well now my HDMI auto switch (an IOGEAR GHDMIAS4) no longer likes to stay "locked on" to the H21-200 anymore. All of a sudden, too. Weird.

Even if I reset the receiver, it doesn't come back unless you fight with it and once you do it only last about 10 minutes before it bails again anyway. Not sure what to blame here yet, disconnecting the AM21 doesn't help so it seems unlikely to be related.

TV seems to like other HDMI sources, can't really test connecting the H21 directly to the TV though unfortunately. Waiting to hear back from IOGEAR, but hopefully it's not the H21.

Using TVersity I get unable to access media messages whenever I select Audio, Pictures or Video. The response time on the media share menu is much slower than the HR20's. One thing I noticed is that Windows Media Connect on the same server shows my HR20s but hasnt been prompted for the H21.

Finally got the media share working and seemed to work well.

More of an observation than an issue. With this CE, the 99 sat signal strength now shows 99(c) and 99(s) instead of 99(a) and 99(b) making it more consistent with the HR series. It is a change that appears limited to this CE.

I have taken the HDMI switch out of the mix and same results. Can't get HDMI to link up at all anymore after a boot up. Even the "welcome" and "almost there" screens are green with white text, or blue with purple text. Other HDMI devices look fine (Linksys DMA2100 extender, XBOX360 Elite and Pana BDP-10A) so looks like it's either my H21, or the new firmware. I might try going back to the national release to see if that "fixes" it, I already disconnected my AM21 last night.

Had to go back to 4080 to recover, which did work for the HDMI issue. However, it had me go back through Guided Setup and when I chose "5LNB" and "Slimline 3LNB" it doesn't show the 99 sat anywhere and the 103(a) fails. "Continue; Fix Later" seems to let me go through but something is screwy because it referred to one of the sats as "103(s)" once, and then 103(a) on the next screen. 4080 never had it as 103(s) and (c) only as (a) and (b) so it feels like something is broken here :(

UPDATE: Looks like I'm missing my locals, both SD and HD. Let's try this again with a "reset everything"

FINAL UPDATE: Looks like no go on 103(a) which is obviously where my locals are. I don't even get my SD locals though which is weird, I didn't think they are on 103 too, but who knows. Everything else works OK so far that I can see.

The issue seems to stem for it thinking that 103(a) is still 103(s) (from the AM21 CE I guess) since this receiver has never used the (s) and (c) before. Everything else is (a) and (b) or regular and works fine. For the 103(a) signal strength screen it calls it 103(s) and just says 'signal failed' -- and all slots are N/A.

An apology to the folks at DirecTV. I have had some serious technical issues at work that have me working odd hours. I have been unable to add my AM21 to my H21. I promise to have this done in the next day or so and apologize for the delay.

This morning I woke up to check for my new HD channels (yay!) and magically my HD locals and SD locals are back, and 103(s) is agagin 103(a) with signals now. Weird. It's still 4080, and doesn't look like it downloaded anything but maybe it did.

Either way, I'm back to NR, and I guess waiting to see if the next round of AM21 CE helps, at which point I'll hook it back up and start testing again.

    Thanks.

I have commented before; I have a suspicion that this special CE release is based on the HR21 code base not the H21. We keep seeing things which are in the HR21 (for example, I saw an error message telling me there was searching for signal on SAT1 and SAT2). The satellite labelling is another one, as is of course that we see two OTA tuners when doing signal test.

Not sure if this has been reported but the last few nights I've noticed that my H21 is turning itself on.

I thought I had seen this also but wasn't sure if I was just turning the TV off. I was trying to watch but kept forgetting to make a 'note' each time.
