I have to concur. The H21 is super fast on channel changes for me, with the BBC attached.

Complain if you don't get an H21.

My H21 box bought at BB has a sticker on it that says "If this receiver has been activated, DO NOT RETURN TO RETAILER." (Caps are part of the quote.)

Right. You'll need to call DIRECTV.

I called C/S, the retention department and the cancellation department: conclusion: They sent me a refurbed h20...I've been fighting with them for a week asking how they can send a refurbed older modell when the h21 I purchased is less then 10 days old, they are stone walling me. Any suggestions would be helpful.

One more question. If I "deactivate" the h21 would BB take it back?

No. Once you activate a leased unit you must return it to DirecTV if you deactivate it. So you will still be under contract for activating it and you will not get a refund for returning it.

Since you're between a rock and a hard place, I'd talk to BB to see if they understand your problem and will "make an exception".

He may be able to get BB to take it back. But he will probably get a bill for the full price from DirecTV. That is the only problem I have with the lease policy.

Maybe not... BB had [has] a "protection plan".
They send them back to D*, but keep all the paperwork because after all this is BB.
I had CC replace my boxes for about six weeks [three/four years ago].
After the 30 day time frame all I needed to do was find a manager who would help to approve it.
I think there is merit for them to do this [which doesn't mean they will] and is worth the time to try.
D* can't "make sure" a H21 is sent out as a replacement [and why the troubles there] and BB wants to have "some" customer service so.....

I think we're just sorry you're having problems with your H21, since ours have been so good.

That's the hardest part of all...I bought it with high expectations.. hopefully a new one will get me back on track. On another note so much for the Red soxs but at least we have the Pats!

    Thanks.

I'm not so sure that anyone at D* nationally has the ability to identify an H21 in inventory and ship it to you. But, they certainly can give you credit on your account for your buying another one. Hint. Hint.

    Thanks Dana,

I just got a call from the C/S supervisor who assured me they will be shipping a new h21 in a couple of days. I hope this works much better. PS I got a months credit for all the running around and calls I had to make, That eased the pain a little. :)
