I have recorded several movies on the Hallmark Movie channel which had the HD logo on it, and it was not in HD. This seems strange. Am I missing something?

...you'd have to ask Crown Media Holdings about that. This is not a DirecTV issue.

Nope...some movies are HD and other are not....it's up to Hallmark. Just becasue it's an HD channel does not mean all programming is HD.

The movies you recorded my be some that Hallmark produced. They have produced around 260 movies for TV since 1994 and shown on the "Hallmark Hall of Fame". As close as I can tell, they started producing their movies in HD in 2006. That is based on the aspects shown on this list of Hallmark movies.

This movie A Painted House is listed as 1:33, however it was shown on the Hallmark Movie Channel in full HD on June 27, 2010 although the guide data didn't list it as HD.

And I just saw Run the Wild Fields displayed at 1:33 but HD. Not sure what odd combo of events would result in that, but enjoyed it anyways.

Well, that is it's original aspect ratio. It sounds like they did exactly why they should have done.

I have come to accept that I will just have to accept Jessica Fletcher and Murder, She Wrote in its original SD glory.
