I think D* has made a huge mistake. After promising again and again the new HD channels wouldn't cost us anything extra they do this. After releasing a worse then non functioning DVR(HR20) I stuck with them. I trusted what they said(it would get better). I think D* is underestimating how big this will negatively effect their reputation. If they had said' "hey we need to raise our HD access fee 1.50 for every one" I would have said fine(grumbled but sucked it up). Give us true ala carte or more complete packages. This makes no sense.

I agree. Look at what's happening. Premier is no longer premier. HD Access only provides "access" to "some" channels In order to see all of them, you have to pay for "HDExtra." I looks like Directv took a page out of Ergun's playbook for piling on extra fees. This aggravated me so much today, that I signed up for the three months free (to let Directv pay the program providers), but marked my schedule to remove it the day before they start charging for it. I also sadly turned of my HR10-250 TIVO, which I used as an extra receiver, just to reduce my bill a bit. Directv, you were a great company, but this fee on top of fee is enough.

I agree a "Premiere" package is less than premiere if you don't get all channels.

But I'm fine with not having to pay for channels I don't watch.
I just wish they'd do more of it!

looks like D* is taking lessons from CRAPCAST.Moving channels to other packages, raising fees, creating new fees as well.
What next a user end chargeon top of the lease fees we already pay.

I have Premiere and now I have the HD Extra Pak.

This is the end of it for me. I will not pay for an HD Extra Extra Pak or a Premiere Premiere pak.

I'm waiting for FIOS to hit town and then D* & E* can nickle and dime each other out of business.

Anyone have any ideas how we can channel our frustrations in a positive manner to get Directv to get rid of this bs package? I emailed them personally, but I think if enough of us here voice our views, we have a chance.

If nobody signs up for the HD Extra Pack then they will surely get the message. A bunch of emails is not going to change things when you have other people signing up for the package.

I already e-mailed them today and said when my H20 2 year lease is up in March. I will stop the service. I only use it for PIP. And I will not sign up for the extra pack. And I already shut down my 3rd box I use for tailgating. So they will be out 13.00 a month. That basically pays my water bill. Sorry Directv. Im not giving into your game. So you lose some revenue.

:hurah: You hit the head right on the Nail...I did not sign up but I did express my displeasure in a EMAIL which they actually responded to by saying they would pass on my concerns to ther supervisors...So EMAIL or call, let your voice be heard!!! Do not take the free 3 month suck up offer!!!!that just gets them off the hook ....

Does any one believe what D* is saying. Do you think D* might add more new HD channels to the HD-Extra pack to force people to sing up. I think they will do just that and at some point offer a new HD-Tier set of packages at 15.00 more a month. Thus never really raising the HD acess fee.

Premier has never included "all channels." There have always been exceptions.

It doesn't get all the international channels, it doesn't include Setanta Sports, it doesn't include distant locals, it doesn't include Baby First TV, it doesn't include the adult channels, it doesn't include PPV without paying extra, it doesn't include all the sports leagues season packages (Sunday Ticket, League Pass, Extra Innings, Center Ice......)

So if you don't want to pay for the HD Extra pack, don't. No one's forcing you to buy this.

yes, directv said most of the year they would not increase the hd prices until next year. HOWEVER, and i emphasize the word HOWEVER, they have made it quite clear since september that there would be a 4.99 fee for the unique hd channels where there isn't an SD mate. directv also said at that time, there wouldn't be a charge for the first three months.

and bottom line, even at 15 dollars a month, its still cheaper than the hd access fee charged by dish!

Thing is. Its cheaper than cable. That is why I switched in 99. But some people cant afford these increases. I cant afford 150.00 a month like some of you pay. There has to be a cut off of $5 here then there to keep rasing prices. Some of us have to keep it in our own budgets.

DirecTV really knows how to throw a wet blanket on their HD expansion party, don't they?

I dropped all of the movie channels and won't be signing up for them again. I did this in part because of Netflix, and in part because I don't like price increases when the reasoning behind them makes no sense on channels that I already receive.

Hey, if they wanted to charge me out right for the new MPEG-4 national channels fine, but I won't settle for this. I did sign up for the HD Extra pack, but said bye bye bye to the movie channels.

And I've got the mind of an elephant! I won't forget about this in a couple of months and re-up for Starz, HBO, Cinemax, or Showtime! For me, they are over!

Thanks D* for saving me some money through your price increase.

Not really. You aren't dropping HD and it sounds like you would drop your H20 anyway.
