the feedback link is most always better for billing stuff. Someone has to think, act, and put it in writing.

on the phone you get attitudes you dont online

How does a company's CSR's all too often not know their own promotions? I will call and try and straighten this out tomorrow. It is only 5 bucks, and will watch the Olympics anyways, but sheesh!!!

It charged me after I activated it, so I shot off an email, we'll see what happens.

Yes thank you all for the heads up on this. Now I'll be overloaded with Olympic coverage!

I called in tonight and they gave me the HD Extra pack free for three months. Ya have to call and cancel it you don't want to pay for it after the time is up. It doesn't shut off on it's own ...

I also asked about the Cinemax for a penny offer and since I already have it on a 2-for-1 offer with HBO, I couldn't get it. Also asked about the free STARZ for 6 months and the CSR said it was only for new customers.

My wife called DTV this morning and asked for the HD Extra Pack free offer. Bingo...bango...bongo! Free for 3 months.

I have an old package so I had to call. The CSR was excellent.

I just wonder if this is a conscious effort on D*'s part to force us to coughing up more for their less economical packages for just for the convenience of being able to continue online. I remember I had to call when I wanted to cancel SHO and now this. Hey, I'm grateful that I could get the deal but the Premium Package options shouldn't effect your main package online. I hope they fix it.

The funny part too is how they then immediately send you a questionnaire asking you to rate the service and informing you that you can "manage your account online". REALLY? I didn't know that.

After several emails and a phone call, they would not honor the free for 3 months promo. They told me it was not for customers who previously had the HD Extra Pack. It didn't state that when I signed up, but whatever. Playing csr roulette is no fun, and it is not fair that some get more than others. I will keep it for the Olympics then cancel.

I too have TC + with HD and when I inquired thru an email about adding the extra pack, the response was no problem BUT I would have to change my programming package because their system will not allow them to add programming with an older package. Just want to confirm from others here; this is possible with a phone call and the right CSR?

That is exactly the email I used and while they were willing to allow the HD Extra for three months free and 2 for 1 deal with Showtime/Stars, they said I would have to change my old TC + package to a current one. As someone so eloquently stated...online bad - phone call good:lol: I will give that a try.

    Piece of cake! :)

Just got off the phone with Denise - lovely lady. Told her I wanted to avail myself of the 3 months free HD Package. Told her some people I know had had difficulty getting it for free when activating online. Told her I didn't mind the few minutes wait to speak with her - I was playing solitaire. Then we had a lengthy discussion about good solitaire sites online.

Now I'm signed up for 3 free months - no mess, no fuss, no bother!!

Here's my story. I signed up on the website for it yesterday and of course the charge showed up on my account right away. I e-mailed customer service asking them to remove it. They replied I wasn't eligible for the promotion because I had the 3 months free the last time it was offered, even though I only got about a month of it because I got HD at the tail end of the promo. I replied back that there is nothing on the web page with the promo that says it is restricted. They replied that I should call in to discuss.

I called this morning and explained the situation. The CSR gave me the same line that I wasn't eligible and he couldn't give it to me. I asked to speak to a suprvisor. He said his supervisor was busy and put me on hold while we waited for him to get off the phone. A few minutes later the CSR came back and said the option to give me the promo was somehow now available on my account so he gave it to me.

It's such a joke that you have to go through this BS all the time.

I was checking around online last night - directv.com - and the HD Extra Pack showed up as $0.00 - free for 3 months. I added it, and it showed up immediately on my recent activity with a $0.00 charge. Previously, it was only showing as the $4.99 per month option.
