HD Movies in Widescreen?

    Hello. Are the HD movies in widescreen on Premium channels, PPV, and On Demand? Which channels has HD widescreen movies? Thanks

    I don't do much with those services, but the only thing I can think of that would not be widescreen but HD are old movies that are in Academy Ratio. At least they should be, I wouldn't think they would use stretchovison

    Showtime is the only premium that shows all (or nearly all) their films in OAR.
    HBO, Cinemax, Starz (and Encore) usually reformat every widescreen film to 16:9, though there are exceptions. Cinemax does show older (pre-mid '50s) movies in their original 4:3.

    In the HD Extra Pack, HDnet always does OAR, MGM HD almost always does OAR. I don't have enough experience with SONY HD to know for sure about it.
