That is a very broad question.

My broad answer is to call DirecTV. :)

    What do you currently have?

unless you're willing to install the new dish yourself, which is more involved than the old dish, call DirecTV. The dish upgrade will be free and they'll probably discount one receiver.

    In general:
HD DVR cost is $199 each, which is the up-front lease fee (you don't own them for that price).
HD receiver cost is $99 each, which is the up-front lease fee.

If you order the HD upgrade from DirecTV, you will normally get the dish upgrade for free, and you *might* be able to get $100 knocked off someplace (reduce cost of one of the DVRs, or get the receiver at no cost).

If you get your hardware someplace else, then you also have to buy the dish and pay for installation.

So, you are looking at a cost starting around $400 and going up depending on various considerations.
