What are the highest ranking DMA's currently without HD locals? I know Huntsville, AL has got to be up near the top. I want HD locals!

Before you guys respond with "put up an antenna", I live behind a mountain so I cannot receive OTA locals (believe me I've tried!). I do have Fox and NBC East coast locals, but ABC and CBS will not give waivers. :(

ewww... I am DMA #154....... I guess we will probably not get HD Locals....

does DTV plan on servicing every DMA on that list with HD Locals at some point?

Right behind us at #5th down the list. Come on, Columbia! :D

Of course, I don't have a mountain in the way.

#1 on the list is looking promising, just not for directv.

Looks like dish may be stealing some directv customers from here in Lexington soon. They seem to have uplinked 3 HD locals to their new eastern arc stuff. The CBS is in SD, but hopefully that will change soon.

Yeah, when I emailed the local stations after Directv released their HD LIL list for 2008, one of them said that Directv still claimed there wasn't enough room on the satellites for Lexington--but the local stations had worked out an agreement with Dish. I think they predicted they would show up on Dish in November.

I could care less about sports channels, but if Directv catches up on premium movie channels in HD "soon", I'll forgive them for balking on the LIL agreement. :p

This certainly supports what we've been hearing - that it's Directv saying they "don't have capacity" (sure is hard to buy this story given all the other DMA's that have been lit) rather than local stations' reluctance. Certainly makes the Dish alternative comparatively much more attractive, especially since the OTA tuners in H20-100 and HR-100 units are so weak they won't hold many of the local OTA HD channels without constant sound blips and picture pixilations.

All of the 72.5's have to be moved over. So what that will leave for 99&103(s) who knows. After that I'm sure you'll start to see movement on other dma's.

I don't even worry about it anymore. We don't even have all network OTA here, so even if DirecTV gets around to us (DMA 156) I don't expect them. Luckily I have the main four nets in HD as DNS, but how long will that last? I am also able to get what few locals we have via antenna. Thus, my ambivalence about LiL from DirecTV.
