Holiday Favorites has started on Holiday and Happenings channel 815. Seems to be a nice mix from what I have heard so far. 100% better that what Sirius did to Holly last year.

    Simple Question:

16 years with DirecTV and I have always had holiday music channel... now we have Sonic and I don't get the channel?

I don't understand why music channels would be tiered. According to the onscreen message I need an upgraded programming package to receive holiday channels. Not gonna happen.

Larry its on 119 or 110 (Can't remember which one) but I have the same problem. Why don't they have it on the 101?

It's absolutely ridiculous that the Holiday music channel requires a specific package and access to a sat that the standard dish installed now doesn't see.

I believe satracer mentioned in a post earlier this year after the change to Sonic Tap that the channel will open up to everyone for holiday music.

Well, the channel's live, and I still can't get it. Satracer is usually a good source of info, so hopefully I'll get it soon. By the wife will be far from pleased if she doesn't get that channel this year.

EDIT: Here is that post by satracer. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2357555#post2357555

I won't be putting up a separate dish just to get that one music channel. I have Choice Ultimate (which is the minimum package for the channel), but to put it and a handful of other music channels on a separate sat is dumb. How much bandwidth could those few music-only channels possibly use?

If " D " switched out your 5 lnb slimline to a 3 lnb slimline like they did to me you will not get the 119 sonic tap audio no matter what Pgm. Pkg you have .

I agree. It would alleviate a lot of complaints if DirecTV supplied all the music channels to all subscribers. The bandwidth is obviously there, but it's just not being sent to all subscribers. Putting the Holiday Channel on only the top tier programming package plus putting the signal on the oddball satellite is really, really dumb.:bang

One of the few good things I could say for Adelphia Cable was that all their Music Choice channels were available to all subscribers.

I have the 5 LNB dish and Choice Extra and I don't get it either. You need Choice Ultimate or higher to get it.

I have Choice Ultimate and when I tune to 815 I see all the information, but hear no music. Is it possible that I have the wrong equipment?

I think (and forgive me because I'm not that good at the technical stuff) that it's a Slimline 3 LNB.

Gee with all the complaining, moaning, and grumbling about Sonic Tap (DMX), I can't believe so many people are now grumbling that they CAN'T get the holiday music. Make up your minds!!

Personally, I LOVE DMX/Sonic Tap and was totally pleased when DirecTV dumped XM and their motormouth DJ's. But I agree that the Holidays & Happenings channel should not be used as an incentive to upgrade a programming package (which it is obvious few subs are planning on doing). It is also kind of stupid carrying it on the 119 when a number of subs don't have dishes that pick up this satellite. Oh, well, life in marketingland...

Nope. No Christmas music here. Feh. I'll just turn on my at-home XM or SomaFM and get what I want. (rolling eyes)

Yet more of D* writing checks their body can't cash. But like many, I'll stick with it and take it, because the alternative is Comcrap. Yawn.
