If you have a slimline 3 you can go to setup & change it to slimline 5 this will give you some not all of what you are missing , i know cause that's what i have done. System test will tell you your dish setup is wrong but everything works as it should , :)

I checked mine last night. It said mine was a slimline5 but I still can't get the Holiday channel and the others that have been mentioned. My DVR is a R16. Would that make a difference?

If my memory serves me correct, we used to get 3 holiday channels in years past. One with classical, instrumental type of Christmas music, one with new pop christmas, and one with classic golden oldies christmas music like Bing & Frank. Sounds like when the time comes and I'm ready for xmas music, I'll plug the I-Pod into the house system. Sonic = Bad Santa :nono2:

Guess the CD's and iPod will have to be the source this year. I don't quite understand why it's Ultimate/Premier.
It's not like I am going to upgrade to get a channel I would listen to for two months.
Hopefully they will make it available to all customers, but I will just use the iPod for now.

I wonder what would happen if someone called and complained that they were paying for channels they couldn't receive because they were given the wrong LNB. I may try that and see if DirecTV will fix it. They should.

If you have a 5LNB dish and the Choice Ultimate or Choice Premier package you should bet that channel.

Last time they were here they took down the 5 LNB dish and replaced it with the 3 so that I would get better reception. They said they are replacing as many as possible with the exception being subs with Spanish or other alternative programming.

Did you tell him that D* owns them all except the one in the 95 slot?

I was getting low signal numbers and he tried adjusting the 5 LNB dish but couldn't improve it much. After the swap everything was fine. SoCal is not the best place to be for Directvs signals anyway.

I have Choice Ultimate, and I will check tonight if I get the channel.

I agree though with several others: Cable gives you access to ALL music channels, regardless which package you get. Now there may be a good argument for tiered music channels, but I think everyone should agree that a holiday music channel - which in my opinion would only serve to advertise for DirecTV if you are throwing a holiday party - should be available to everyone.

Christmas spirit and all that good fluffy stuff! ;)

I am a new subscriber in SoCal... (OC area) and so far I have not noticed any problems, not even when we had the rains a few weeks ago. I have a large brand new oval dish on my chimney, but I have no idea what type it is.

While it won't ruin my Christmas season, I did email DirecTV to voice my displeasure. I find it ridiculous that I have had Choice Extra or the equivalent for a long time and always received more than 1 holiday channel. Now I get nothing, even though my bill increases every year.

I don't get the channels. I have the 5LNB and Choice Premier. I'll call them and see what they can do. It's not really that big a deal for me. I consider the audio channels just a bonus anyway. It is nice though at Christmas to listen to the holiday music when doing things around the house.

This is what will be disappointing for me as well, comparing last year's XM choices for the holiday.

If SonicTap adds the same choices then that will be great but I haven't heard anything about that.

You don't get any channels in the 800's or just the ones on 119°.

I would've thought that SoCal would be a good place for signals....shows how much I know.
