    Help
I am replacing my DirecTv R10 (SD-TIVO) with the new DirecTv HR24-DVR. Is there any suggestion on how I can transfer old programs off the old R10 to new HR24?

I was thinking maybe I could “play” a program with AV out, to a network modulator, to a router, then network to the HR24.

Sounds easy, but could be impossible.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Even if the comment is to say it can't be done.

    Another option to ask:
Could I take the old IDE R10 (tivo-DVR) drive and put into an external drive box, which could be access by the new HR24(DTV-DVR)?

It cannot be dont. Proprietary disc format and encoded files. What you can do is record the programs to your computer using a video capture card or DVD Recorder for SD content, or a Hauppauge HDPVR for HD content. Once captured, then you can network your HR24 to your computer and play the shows using its Media Share option.

No, there is absolutely no way you can save anything to the HR24. Sorry.

All you can so is play it from your computer TO the HR24 using Media Share.
