My DirectTV contracts ends on Dec 2nd .

How long before this date should I contact them to cancel the service?

I am also on Auto Pay . Should I stop auto pay after the Nov billing cycle ( which covers the billing Period through Dec 1 )

Will I be expecting any final costs if I tell them to stop the service on Dec 1 ?

Thanks

From previous blogs, DTV - CUTS you OFF the DAY you call.
Recommend calling Dec. 2

Only cost I know of are prepaid shipping boxes they will send out. Expect a possible call later offering around $50 month discount along with $200 visa card to add another 1 year contract. Reports are coming back people that have done this haven't received the Visa card.
I just accepted such a deal and waiting for my card but its only been a few days.

It sounds like you might be concerned about getting a new contract if you dont cancel. that is NOT the case. Once the two years are up you can cancel at any time and only pay for the service received. If billing is on the 2nd and you cancel on the 7th you just pay for the 5 days

The problem of auto pay is important. If one cancels after payment for the next month one will be owed a refund. You will eventually get the refund ... but if you needs that money to pay for the next provider or other bills your money can be tied up.

So it's best I cancel auto pay after I paid for the Nov-Dec1 billing cycle. I can then cancel my subscription on DEC 2 . Any charges like return boxes etc will then come to me in paper billing and then I can what the final charges will be.

Do I have to return the SWM splitters etc? . I will just leave the Antenna on my roof for the time being .

If I was doing what you are going to do,
I would remove my credit card from auto pay after the November payment is made.
If the cycle is for Nov 1 to Dec 1 I would call and have the service turned off on the last day of November.

The boxes they send cost you nothing for the box or the shipping.

DirecTV only wants the receivers back. In some cases they only want the Smart card from certain ones.

If you remove the dish, do not remove the foot plates from the roof as this will cause a certain leak.

Even though they may ask for remote, power cords, etc all they really care for is the receiver and access card.

I have sent back 2 smart cards from receivers they did not want back and 1 receiver. Never sent a remote back. Who would accept a used old remote ?

They try(or at least want) to reuse the guts of the remotes. But not sending them back would NOT result in any additional charges.

I just cancelled last week.
They said they were gonna send some boxes for my receivers.

So far I haven't gotten them yet. Not gonna worry about it. All my cards are off file. If they have questions they know my #
That is not a guarantee that you wont be charged. They have them on file and if you pass the date they are expecting them back by, they will charge any card they can that you ever used on the account ever. Might wanna call and ask which boxes they want back and if there is a tracking number for the recovery kits your waiting on.
