HR-22 and AM21 Can't watch OTA channels any more

My AM21 won't let me watch (or record) OTA channels through my HR22 any more. I've tried unplugging both ends of it several times and even did the initial setup again and still nothing. All it says it is "Tuner, Off-Air 1 (or 2, it changed after a reboot for some reason), has been removed" and a "More Info" box that says
"1. Make sure external tuner is powered on." (it is, the light is on).
"2. Disconnect and reconnect all cable ends between external tuner and receiver". (see above).
The signal strength indicator says no signals on any channel even though I can get 2 markets (53 sub channels total) with a direct connection to the TV on the same antennas.
What gives? How do I fix this?

Just asking because there is another thread started this week stating that since that person got an update on their HR44, they can't record OTA anymore either.

I have an HR44 with AM21 and no issues. Suspect something else happened coincidentally with the HR44 posters update. With respect to the OP and HR22, don't know but not seeing other complaints out there.

I'm not aware of a Hr25. Go with the HR24- plus it's lightning fast compared to the HR22. That's typically the dual tuner that DirecTV is sending out currently anyway......

I don't have the money for that. I'd just like to fix what I have so I can record Jeopardy! on their Detroit (NBC) affiliate while my LiL local (CBS) affiliate is showing the basketball tournament.

If you had the protection plan and your HR22 died, you would (likely) get an HR24 replacement at n/c. If you don't have the PP, usual cost for a DVR swap is $19.95, unless they waive it. But I defer to any others who know that Directv is sending out only HR24's, or not.

I don't think I do, but thanks for the info. Is that one-time fee or monthly or what?

My HR22 works fine btw (well it's pretty sluggish but it records fine and whatnot).

It is the shipping fee, therefore, just a one-time fee. I thought I heard that your HR22 was dead and doesn't work anymore. Because if that is what you told them, they would ship you another DVR. Talk nicely to them, and you might even get the shipping fee waived (someone last week w/o the PP had that happen to them last week).

No, I never said that and I don't want a new DVR, mine works fine, but I just want my AM21 to work with it too. God I feel like I'm talking to Geek Squad here.

If you've tried to reset your machine and go through the setup with the AM21 and it still doesn't work, there are two possible issues: Your AM21 is dead or there is an issue with your HR22. According to your profile, you don't have another DVR. If that is correct, do you have a friend/family member with a DIRECTV that you can try your AM21 on?

Not sure of any other trouble shooting you can do.

Yes all I have is the HR22, nothing else, and everybody I know has Comcast or Dish. I'll tinker with it some more but I don't have the money for any new hardware right now.

I would try doing a search for CLEARMYBOX. Then press the red button on the remote. After the system has completed the reboot, try setting up the antenna, again.
