I'm surprised this is the case - I got a free DECA upgrade maybe 2 years ago when I added Whole Home DVR to my account (I had 3x HR23-700s at the time) - I asked why there was no CCK, and the tech said it wasn't on the order and wasn't needed. He instead plugged an Ethernet cable into the 2nd of the HR23's ports and used the HR23 as a bridge. It worked but I had a lot of network issues and ended up having to buy my own CCK off eBay.

And your issues are the reason that DirecTV didn't want the second Ethernet port used that way...

Right - my surprise is to find out that techs get additional money to install a CCK - so, why didn't the tech install one on my install? Maybe he didn't have any with him ... who knows. Just surprising to find out that he would have gotten more money to provide one - yet didn't and instead went with an unsupported configuration.

The more I read these threads, the more it blows my mind on how misinformed some of the techs are that get sent out
