    CE 0x0190 - check
    VOD enabled - check
    Networked - check
    Passes network test - check
    Passes internet test - check
    Reset via menu - check
    Channel 1000 available - nope

    As a CE'er...waiting patiently.... :)

Listen tonyd79, you have not paid for the right to be included in the ce program. It is done free of charge and all are welcomed as long as you read the posted warnings.

So you don't have any "rights" to anything but what you subscribe to from Directv.

What you get out of this program is what you put into it. There are hundreds on here that did everything right and still don't have VOD. An error occurred. That's part of the risks involved.

Ksteiner - Thanks for getting this thread back on topic.

Maybe complaints or concerns about the process for selecting HR20 receivers for VOD should be moved to a separate thread ...

    Please everyone ...

No, the test is that the HR20 says it is connected. I say it is a bad test because it is not required that you even have a PC to run VOD. Fully debugged networks for months will not test what it takes to set up VOD in Joe 6Pack's living room. The test is tainted.

And, no, I didn't get angry until Tom made the mention of the A/A+ student. That was an insult to me. If he meant no harm, let him apologize publically.

The positive would be that this forum stops playing word games and just says what is means. Cloak and dagger does no one any good.

Fine, let a mod do that.

    No problem with that.

Oh, good. Then I come here to be insulted? And I try to help out but because I don't play "find the puzzle piece" I get dumped out of the testing?

How does working out hints and puzzles equate to good testing of software? I missed that class in school.

Now, how about posting that thread you claim tells me to hook up your network in advance so I can be on the VOD test?

    Thought not.

If you didn't know that you needed a network connection to test or use VOD, then you haven't paid any attention in the last couple months.

I typed in "VOD Anticipation" in the search and numerous threads came up.

Enough of this. I'm done. Goodnight all.

Let me see if I can explain this so even you can understand.

What makes you think Earl or anyone else knew anything about this in advance?
They most likely didn't know anything until just before it was posted here.

My VOD doesn't work yet but I'm not blaming anyone, it's a test to see if there was any problems & guess what there were problems.
By finding that out we are helping D* & hopefully the problem will be fixed soon & we can play with it before most people get it.
That's just part of the CE process.

So why don't you just go with the flow & wait & see what happens with the rest of us?
If not feel free to never do another CE.

I hate to actually talk about VOD in this thread, but... I wonder if anything we have set in our individual routers could have caused D* to not pick up some of us that were networked? Maybe the kind of security settings we have, maybe our routers would need to respond to pings for D* to see it, maybe something else.

    Thoughts?

Gosh, lotta angst here. I almost feel guilty about VOD working on my HR20...especially since I wasn't one of those chomping at the bit to get it. :)

I doubt the router matters. If on the Network test you get connected to directv showing up then the HR20 is able to communicate with their network. Data can be transfered through your router.

I can get pictures & music from my computer & in the test it said it was connected to D* through the internet. & my PS3 is able to get on the internet & see my computer so my router should be working fine.

Earl has said previously that your HR20 passing both the Network and Internet tests is sufficient. I imagine it does a quick check to see if it can make connections to D*s servers on any of the ports that it needs to. I'm sure someone will sniff the VOD traffic soon to determine just which ports are in use with it.
