Thanks for the work guys. I am still sad but stopped crying sometime Sunday:D .

I an hardwired connected and have been since early July. I show internet connectection network enabled. I do not have a phone line though. I am sure when it is my time to help you will let me know. I enjoy the forum and helping get the most out of my system for the most enjoyment. (In truth a lot more interested in when D-10 will be lit up).

Based on Tom's post it looks like I may not be eligable for the VOD CE. While I've participed in every CE that I could this only amounts to two since I've only had the HR20's for a few weeks now and they were only connected to the net last week. Oh well, still plently of stuff to do in 0x190.

So it looks like only ~30% of us are "TRUE" CEers ;)

A real bummer, hopefully they will find a way to fix it for the rest of us, if not then I'll get over it.

I've been networked for months as well (since I got my HR20), but I guess I missed a key CE that they probably used to determine who was networked. That is certainly possible because I'm not allways here on a Friday or Saturday night.

    That's unfortunate.

Well count me in as one of the unlucky. I've tried all the troubleshooting tips and no go. But I have faith in D* to sort this out, and I would half expect another CE push this Fri/Sat to correct it. I can wait, I've waited this long. Lots of other things going on in my life.

Folks, think about where the HR20 was a year ago or even 6 months ago and we are quibbling over a NEW feature that is "not ready for prime time". The box is now rock solid and for the most part is now BETTER than the D*Tivos they have replaced for most of us. I'm excited about this new feature, online programming and all the new HD channels coming. This is a great time to be a D* subscriber, lets let them sort this out and we'll have the best box and the best service out there!!

    Go D* Go!!

Related to this, I have used the media sharing option with some success in the past, however I've had a significant amount of issues when the HR20 is connected, which I posted in the issues for 0x0190. Here it is again:

I've only had my HR20 network connected a few times in the past few months, mostly to check if the HR20 has improved any networking features. My problem is that the HR20 seems to hog a decent amount of the bandwidth on my home network. I'm not sure what its doing, but my guess is that its related to the media sharing. When I have the HR20 connected, the performance of my 360, PS3, etc. take a HUGE hit in bandwidth and take significantly longer to connect to the net and its almost impossible to download items on Live or through the Playstation Store. They are all connected through the same bridge (WET54GS5), but there are no computers on the network at the time so its not that the HR20 is sharing media with a computer at the time, which even if it was IMO this still shouldn't be that large of an issue because it shouldn't be negatively impacting my Internet connection this badly.

So based on this, I have no idea what the HR20 is doing network wise and no clue why it would be degrading my performance, but as soon as I disconnect it from the bridge everything operates normally again. It might be a good idea for D* to add an option, even if its just for testing, to turn off the media sharing option to determine if that's the problem.

    CE 0x0190 - Yes
    VOD enabled - Yes
    Networked - Yes
    Passes network test - Yes
    Passes internet test - Yes
    Reset via menu - Yes
    Channel 1000 available - No

I don't know if it helps but I wanted to provide the info. Hopefully, D* will resolve this soon.

I'm in this group as well.

The one thing I never did was list my "setup" because with a new house it was/is constantly changing. From receivers everywhere to a central hub, etc....

But in all those cases, we pretty shortly after the "game" started... reveleasd what it was... at least with the game with the keys on the remote... it didn't even last an hour before the result was found, and posted.

The only answer I can give is I do not know. I am not playing with you. Because I just do not know about your particular case. I couldn't possibly gather enough information to sticky something that would tell you.

#3 is still true, because VOD has nothing to do with #1 or #2

Guess what... until I know what is going to happen this upcomming weekend, or the future... why should I post that today...

So I can deal with another 100 PM's on Sunday, saying: "You said we would not be testing..." Followed by a bunch of profanity

    Earl/Tom/et al,
Thanks for everything you are doing. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

    Posting for completeness -

Enabled VOD on Sunday 8/26 at 11PM ET

    CE 0x0190 - check - 8/24 11:50PM ET
    VOD enabled - check - 8/26 11PM ET
    Networked - check - always
    Passes network test - check
    Passes internet test - check
    Reset via menu - check
    Channel 1000 available - No

I also never received the "program guide data being acquired" message and have no engineering charge on my "View Activity Since Last Bill" or any previous statements.

I have participated in every CE release except 1 (was on vacation) and have had my HR20-700 connected to my network and the internet since that capability was first enabled.

Hope this helps with the troubleshooting.

I hope that's a joke. Really. Because if it's not, I'm highly disappointed.

DirecTV has decided - out of the goodness of their hearts - to open up their engineering and product testing to us. That's a very rare thing, and one which we should all be incredibly grateful for.

I think it's time for everyone to take a step back and remember - this is pre-release stuff we're talking about. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Dem's da breaks.

... and if you're getting upset because a pre-release version of a new technology doesn't work 100% right out of the gate, well, I wish you luck. Make sure you get that blood pressure checked.

I think at this point it is time to step back (all of us...including mods) and simply admit that no one knows what is going on. I have no clue what's going on...and I freely admit that. But will others admit to that as well?

Also I do not appreciate the fact that my post, to which never used profanity, is now associated with PM'ing people with profanity. I have never (yep...its a fact) PM'ed anyone at dbstalk.

The way this is being handled is that when activation goes bad, the user does not know whether it is a software bug, equipment problem, or not being one of the "chosen". We need some feedback to indicate where the problem is.

First, I want to thank Earl and Tom for their hard work and tireless effort to keep the CE process moving along, and thanks to Stuart and Doug for stepping up and taking on the thankless job of moderator. Also thanks to DBSTalk for giving us a "home", and to DirecTV for allowing us, the rabble, the opportunity to play with the CE's and to take our input and provide a product that combines their vision with our desires.

As for DOD, I've participated in every CE since December (with the exception of 2 that I missed while out of town). I was networked for about 3 months, but I disconnected 2 months ago due to some issues I had with a CE and never reconnected.

Based on Tom's description of what D*'s desire was for the DOD I was left out due to not being networked. I can accept that. I had my network disconnected, so was I truly providing all the input that D* was looking for? Probably not.

I'm disappointed that I can't participate, but I understand that my actions have put me in this situation. So now I will wait patiently for DOD to either move to the next CE stage, or go national and enjoy it then.

Again, I want to thank everyone who is involved in giving us the opportunity to participate, and I thank all the CE'rs who have provided great input and have made the HR20 the outstanding machine that it has become!
