My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but my searches didn't turn up anything. This may be because I don't know what the bar is called that appears when rewinding, forwarding, or pausing a recording (the one that shows how far along in the program you are).

Anway, I'd like to prevent that thing from appearing when I freeze frame. As it is, I have to press exit every time to get it off the screen. Is there some setting or trick to doing this?

    Thanks!

No, you need to press exit and there are a few others ways to removed it.

But there is no way to stop it from showing up all together.

Here's an alternative to pressing PLAY or EXIT to hide the progress bar: Tap BLUE twice. This brings up and hides the mini-guide and leaves our DVR in whatever trick-play state it was in: paused, fast-forwarding, replaying, etc.

(See my signature for a thread about problems using EXIT to clear the progress bar during playback.)

The problem, as I see it, is that the progress bar reappears after EACH frame when you're doing a frame-by-frame FF. Really annoying.

Something I'd love to see fixed!

Mine (HR20-700) doesn't do that. Once I press Exit to clear the progress bar I can frame advance and the bar doesn't come back.

My HR20-700 doesnt do that either. If Iwant to frame by frame through something, after clearing the progress bar, it is gone.

Mine does not come back either and I have three HR20-700's. I have tested this one all three.

It's entirely possible that I'm thinking of the R15 and not the HR20.... and I haven't tried it in a while. I'll have to give it a go today and see if I can reproduce on the R15 ...

I have the -100 and mine stays off once it's cleared. I was hoping there was a toggle somewhere that would keep it from coming on in the first place.
