True. But, I want a 700 model So, I can do CE's. Right now there hasn't been any for the 100 model. I ended up keeping the new HR20 as the person who sent it to me gave me a good price on it. So, I ended up letting her know and paying for it. I would of felt to guilty if I would of kept it and didn't do anything about it.

I think I am going to get Directv to replace this bad one.

Well, it is pretty much toast tonight. It is now even getting hung up on live TV. I called Directv and they said if they replaced it I would have to extend my contract by 1 year. I don't think that is correct. Has anybody else out there had to extend there contract if they had there receiver went bad?

Making noise you say... Is it making quiet clicking noise frequently and sporadically or is it making a grinding or thunking noise?

EDIT: Looks like you fine folks get an A+ in trouble shooting. I will say this much though. Just because the drive makes a lot of noise doesn't mean its bad. The HR-20 does a tremendous amount of I/O and the drives (at least in the 700 model) are NOT quiet by any means. Just food for thought.

Radio Enginerd... It makes both a grinding and thunking noises.

I was able to get a hold of a level 2 tech last night and he was great. The first time I explained the noises to him, he said we need to replaced the HR20. He said the hard drive is going bad. He use to be a Dell tech. So, they are sending me a refirb one at no charge and no extension to my contract. I am hoping I get the 700 model from them. Thanks for all your guys input!

Excellent, happy to hear. Grinding and Thunking = BAD, so they're definitely doing the right thing.

We'll keep our fingers crossed that you get a 700 model. Please come back and post your results.
