So I just got an HR20 today... and WOW are there a lot of LEDs on the thing! What is this, a UFO landing site? Wow.

Any way to turn these things off, or at least dim them a bit? I didn't find anything... be hard to tape around that big ol round thing...

Press the left and right directional buttons simultaneously on the front panel of the HR20 to cycle through different levels of brightness for the blue ring. Unfortunately, there is no way to dim or turn off the other lights.

Interesting. That's the first I've heard that. And it doesn't work on my unit. Thanks for the info, though.

Koz, it sometimes takes a little practice, and of course it has to be on the front panel, not on the remote. Give it another try.

Stuart, I know. I posted that in post #3. I was referring to post #5 who said it worked on the remote.

I haven't tried lately, but the HR20-700 used reset to full brightness whenever it was powered on. That's a problem when you put it in standby every night.

Or have they fixed that yet? My wife's sleeping in there right now, so I have to wait to check.

I think that setting only resets when the unit is reset, not from just putting it in standby.

The LED's will return to full brightness only after the box loses power or it goes through a reset due to a manual reset or a forced software upgrade.
If you do not believe you lost power and the lights are bright, just check the menu>help & settings>setup>info & test for the past upgrade date.

I have had it work from the remote (RF) on the R15-100. I have not been able to get it to work on the HR20-700

Use some tape to dim those outer LED's. Some use masking tape, I used white electrical tape.
