This morning, turned on fine. It was on MSG HD this time (not SNY HD).

Wonder if it has somewhat to do with the channel during standby.

Yesterday, locked up 3 times, today good so far.

Will try to experiment if channel makes a difference.

I also had the same issue when running the test. Now that I have hooked it up to the network, if it is uplugged now, it will fail the network test.

Interesting scenario here Stuart! Thanks for staying on top of this!

If this was one your HDMI connections, try removing and inserting the hdmi cable at the back of the unit or the TV before a reboot. This is exactly what happened to me (several times) with a cable that wasn't perfectly seated. You might have to change channels after reseating.

What you two describe has been called "super-pinky" by me and used to happen at least once per reboot for many months with HR20-700. Sixto, it might be helpful if you posted the exact model of your TV here as well as whether or not you have the current firmware and if you are using the DIRECTV-supplied cable.

I had the same thing a while back when I kicked the HDMI cable [by mistake].
Several resets, unplugging etc, didn't help.
Finally I repeated pulling the cable while the unit was powered up and it fixed it.

Using the DirecTV supplied HDMI cable.

    TV is Samsung 32" LNT3253H.

First time ever with the pink problem on any TV in the house.

The bigger issue was the total lock-up upon coming out of standby.

Been fine few times coming out of standby today. Tested 3 times.

Now have changed channel to SNY HD which was the problem yesterday. Will wait an hour or two and try again.

    Dripping...
On prior CE I tried to switch remote from IR to RF mode, receiver said it was in RF but remote didn't do anything. Tried it again today after this CE installed and RF mode now works.

    She's baaaack ....

Just turned on TV. This is the exact scenario as yesterday.

TV was on SNY HD when I put the box into standby several hours ago.

Right now (5:30pm ET) it's recording SNY HD from 5pm-6pm ET. It's also recording YES SD from 1pm-6:30pm. I would guess SNY is still in the foreground and YES is in the background.

I record the sports shows on YES & SNY and then just browse thru the highlights at night.

Just hit power. TV came on. Screen is blue and says "Weak or No Signal".

The HR21-200 will not come on.

Removed HDMI (per suggestion earlier today). Hit power. No luck.

Remote and Front Panel do nothing.

    Exact same situation as yesterday.

Earlier in the day, when I left the TV on MSG HD for few hours, it had no problem coming out of standby.

From yesterday's experience, the shows will record properly, so I'll wait until 6:30pm to do anything else.

0x18F was perfect. This justed started with 0x190.

    Open for any suggestions! :)

These lockups are hard to get out of.

Waited until 6:30pm when the recordings were complete.

    Tried RBR. No luck.

    Unplugged/re-plugged power. No luck.

Waited a while. Re-plugged again then had to hit power on front panel.

    Box finally re-booted.

Mine has been on since yesterday.
7:00 came around and my recording of PBS This Old House started.
I was just finishing a Discovery Global Warming show, and pressed "info", to find nothing happening. No response from the remote. Quick check to see if I've on the right receiver, by switching video inputs. OK not that, I was on the correct input and remote is set to the correct receiver.
Came back to the HR21 video input and had the "Super Pinky" screen with no sound now too.
My first two RBRs have had it stuck at step 1 of 2 and both the 720p & 1080i lights on.
This reset problem is the same as I had before this version of software. I had the same troubles with the first night failures.
Pulled the power cord for five min.
This time after the blue ring quit spinning, the resolution lights cycled through the "normal" steps, with a pink flash from the screen, and it's moving beyond step 1 of 2.
The network cable has been connected the whole time.
Live TV now with a good picture & sound.
Remote works and it only took 30 min to get it back.

Super-Pinky last night at 9:05PM but it was easily solved by turning the TV off and on. This is probably the developers getting back at me for being so pernicious on the super crop issue.

Mine has not locked up at all....but....I never turn it off and it is ups powered. Just a data point that may show it is going in and out of standby that causes the problem to surface.

Not to counter your data point but here is mine. I have not had any lockups either. The unit goes into standby every night and in and out of standby a couple more times each day. Also, I have internet connected and my HR20 connected to the secondary port. I am connected through a UPS as well.

So far so good here (no standby problem, no resolution/zoom/skew problem)...maybe the changes made for my Sharp have created problems for others?

To add another "data point", my lockup came on a UPS, and had been on for over 24 hours.

I've not had lock ups, not on a UPS, but don't generally turn it on and off. I will some this weekend and see what happens.

Mine stays in standby for long periods (I check it every 2 - 3 days) and I've had no problems bringing it out. It seems to record as well as the HR20-700. It's in a guest room on an SD set so it's not getting much use.

The lockups may be resulting from some sort of software problem (memory leak) during use and then going into standby and not just standby itself.

    Frozen again.

My wife turned it on for awhile this morning and watched a previously recorded show. She turned it back off (standby).

A short while ago I went to turn it back on and watch something, and it was already on (not in standby, blue ring lit). I had audio and video on the current channel, but the unit would not respond to any remote controls. I had to do an RBR to get it to work, following which everything seems fine.

I am very much wanting to roll back to the previous software if DirecTV would consider letting us do that. My HR21 worked great then, but has had consistent problems with this release.

Excellent point...(memory leak), and consistent with my current box usage...set up movies to record, sits for long periods of time with no user interaction, then movies are played/deleted.
