I would assume an HR24 would be a later model than the HR23 but on Amazon it shows the HR23 for $247.00 and the HR24 for $182.

Anyone know why an older model would cost more. It did say the HR24 was 200 hard drive. It did not indicate the size on the HR23.

    It's not Amazon, it's 6th avenue.

Prices fluctuate all the time based on many factors. The HR23 was as low as $135 at one point, and I've seen the HR24 as low as $100.

    Just a snapshot in time.

They are both 500 GB drives, and the -200 is the manufacturer, not the size of the drive.

I just checked Amazon and the TS is correct about the prices. They show the 23 at $247. They also use a picture of a 24 in the offering. Who would pay that much money for a 23?

I don't think directv is actually making any HR23's anymore so that may be a factor. Only a limited supply of new hr-23's available and it's getting smaller every day. The hr23's do have the advantage of being the only model with wideband tuners that don't need bbc's on legacy systems which might be valuable to some people.

Shame to spend that much money on a 23.

It's also possible the HR24 price on Amazon is incorrect. It has happened twice that I am aware of. Once I ordered one and got an H24 and the other time I checked first and it was an error. Both times were Amazon errors and not the sellers error.

    Good point.

They messed up once before on the H24/HR24 naming...so perhaps worthy of a message to the seller to confirm the model number.
