I have an HR23 and also others including an HR20. It seems that the HR23 takes noticeably longer to respond to commands sent via the remote. The commands appear to be instantly sent and received, but acting on the particular command takes several seconds. The screen will show that the command has been received, the particular command will start, but then take a while to load the new screen, guide, menu, etc. Is this a problem I can fix?
My HR23 has the latest s/w: 0x34c and the other receivers do not seem to be slow.

There's an update coming that should help the speed issue, which appears to subsume the slow response to commands problem as well. Hang in there, help is on the way.

A menu reset is much preferred. RBRs are for hung systems, where no other method will allow the receiver to restart. A menu restart allows the system (and open files) to be shut down gracefully, and is the proper way to restart any of the HR boxes. The restart is a good idea, to be sure, just don't get in the habit of RBRs when they aren't necessary.

The RBR unfortunately did not help. Any idea when an update will be released to the masses? PS Even with this glitch I am very pleased with my HR23 versus my HR20.

Seems like a lot of us in Los Angeles got the update and I can tell you that the menus/guides are noticeably faster

It can take time. Some in the past have taken a few weeks, but they can control the speed. Unfortunately you can't make your box get the new release faster.

As a matter of interest, what makes the HR23 compare well with the HR20?

Not to speak for the OP, but for me I like the bigger hard drive. The wife likes the color coordination with the other equipment.

Have you received the firmware yet? If you are having issues please post them in the issues thread so it can be worked on. :). I dont think he was stating that it was the fix all but many people are already reporting much improvement.

No one said it will help everyone....but it addresses the bulk of the mainstream issues that were reported in 34C.

Be part of the solution, not part of the problem (with your negativity) please.

Lets get back on topic before this gets closed. You are correct thats its probably not helping everyone and no one said it would but its helping with the bulk of the complaints that were being received. If you havent received the new NR give it some time. We might see more and more people a little happier. Your feedback about the release is appreciated though.

My hr23 has been fine since i reset it,i did try a menu reset first but didn't help but a RBR brought back to life.

I also got a felling that it is network related because of what i was doing whit it at the time like whit Playon streaming.

For those anticipating the pending 0368 new National release firmware....here are some early reports from those who have received it in the past day or so...
Since operational and guide speed was the #1 problem reported with version 034c...this appears encouraging.

There were also some other "under the hood" fixes, which appear to correct some of the other top reported issues in the previous release.

Here is the post defining the 0368 version content (note that this is a staggered push-out release, so folks will all get this over a period of time):

This update has just started going out, so I think its too early to say it isn't working.

It is also way to early to claim that it has resolved the issues for everyone.
