    Teays...
Is any using it? There is a thread over at RemoteCentral about how it uses some non-standard setup. I had planned on moving mine down to a lower shelf and using the IR pass-thru from my TV.

Has anyone gotten it to work? And if it does use some non-standard setup, WHY?

I don't know why it uses a non-standard setup but I can confirm it does. I had hoped that I could run a line from a slingbox right into it but that didn't work at all.

It's the same setup as the HR21 Pro. The easiest way to deal with it is to go to Oppo's website and order BDP-83 IR adapter cable (they're $2/ea). If you want to make your own adapter cable, don't wire the tip of the stereo plug - ring and sleeve only. Ring is positive.

Are you saying that you believe the protocol is the same but the wiring is different?

I'm not sure I follow. AFAIK, the protocol and wiring is the same as the HR21 Pro. I was using the Oppo cable with my HR21 Pro and Logitech 900 IR blaster. I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't work with the HR34. The pinout on the IR input on the HR21 Pro and HR34 is the same.

Most IR ports are 12v and use the tip as contact.

The HR34 (and apparently HR21P) use a 5v and do not use the tip.

Can anybody confirm a working wired IR input system for the HR34?

I've only heard of one working case in the following thread: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=202380 although it isn't working at present.

I also have the Oppo cable but have not had any success getting wired IR to work.

Thanks. I missed that other thread. We should probably close this one and direct users to the other thread.

    Sounds like a good idea.
