I have posted before about this issue. After talking with D* CSRs, I have been told that if the Satellite setup is incorrect, it could cause the receiver to reset. Anyone know if that is true. I believe that I have the Slimline 5 and think the HR34 (which I had to deactivate b/c of the resetting) was setup as a Slimline 3 - could this be the cause. Seems far fetched in that if the setup was wrong then there would have been issues other than the resetting. Before I go back and reactivate, I am curious if this could be the source. I have ruled out power cord, AC issue, HDMI issue, etc.

Not far fetched at all. If the HR34, or any HD Receiver/DVR for that matter, isn't getting guide data it will reboot. If you have an SL5 and it is setup as an SL3 that may cause that issue.

Just checked my receivers and now am even more confused. 2 HR24s show sat as Slimline 3S; HR20 shows as Slimline 3 (no S); and a working but different HR34 shows as Slimline 5. Help?

What LNB do you actually have?

I confess that while I am pretty well versed in this stuff, I am not certain. How can I tell.

The dish says slimline and was installed about 5 years ago - I think the LNB may have been changed and I can not get to the roof to see the name - it has one circular transponder that I can see. Any other way to determine?

Look at the shape of LNB

The first pic is a Slimline 5, the second pic is Slimline 3. Hope it helps

So it should be a Slimline 3, Check my pics above your post to be 100% sure. So if it's a Slimline 3 ALL your receivers should be setup on Slimline 3. If your HR34 is setup on Slimline 5 and your antenna is a Slimline 3, the HR 34 can't acquire the guide data on sat 119, that's why it's rebooting. Change all your settings on your receivers if not done and that should eliminate the problem.

yes the Slimline 3S is when you have a multiswitch.

Google" Directv SWM" and you'll see what I am talking about.

So if you don't have a multiswitch (which I doubt with all your receivers) select option 03 in the setup.

If you have a SWM select option 17

Then all of your receivers should be setup for a Slimline 3.
