Someone was watching over me for sure. I said a few thank you prayers that night.

She was a 2005 Mercedes Benz C230 (super charger version)

I treated her good, she returned the favor. I said thank you to her later that night when I got my personal belongings. My 7 year old boy starting crying when we walked away. It broke my heart to see him cry like that.

+1......I have shrapnel in my right knee from when I was in Nam. Lets me know when the weather is going to change. Good luck with your surgery Hutch. Glad your still breathing. The "DirecTV HD Channel Anticipation" thread wouldnt be the same without you.

I add my best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Bless your beautiful car and someone above for watching out for you.

Please do have a wonderful, "thankful" Christmas.

This kind puts things in perspective for all of us. I'm very glad you're not too banged up. My prayers for a speedy recovery. You and your family have already received a wonderful Christmas gift...a life spared.

Hutch, glad to hear you walked away from it, and I wish you a speedy recovery. That slo-mo thing has always interested me. I've heard two accounts of it happening to people I trust completely -- awesome. Too bad we can't find a way to invoke it at will.

Wow....glad you're relatively OK, Hutch! That looks NAS-TEEE! I'm guessing the other guy got charged?

I can vouch for the slo-mo thing from a few motorcycle crashes over the years. Happened during every one of them but the one I didn't see coming. I've also seen it on the racetrack, where even when blasting down the back straight at Road Atlanta at 150+, I can still pick out and recognize faces of friends standing at the fence flashing by. Pretty amazing when you think about it...

Hutch - good luck with the surgery, and yes, I can also vouch for the "new superpower" - at least for a few years.

And remember - the car can be replaced - you can't.

Why did you leave the car in the middle of the road? You are supposed to move minor fender benders out of the way of traffic!

    ;) ;) ;)

Did you even have time to hit the brakes at all? Pretty crazy to think you had to have broken your kneecap on the underside of the dash. Its amazing what you body does in the brief milliseconds of a crash.

Ouch! When I woke up after the surgery it hurt crazy bad, very painful. Too painful to sleep right now. I got a few screws and some wire in my knee. Maybe I'll pickup a few OTA HD channels now.

    Thanks again you all.

I feel for you. Had the same kind of accident at 50mph 5yrs ago. Even with a seatbelt and airbag it felt like being kicked in the chest by a horse. Don't know if it is true but I read somewhere it is the same as falling off a six story building. (The rocket scientists here will probably have to check that!). Anyway the auto makers fought against airbags for years but I think they have saved many lives.

Sounds like they need a leg and knee area air bag as well.
