I was trying clean up my playlist by deleting some programs. If I used the red button, the cursor/highlight stayed correctly positioned at the next show in the list. If I selected the program, and used the delete option from the menu on the left. It returned to the playlist with the highlight back at the top.

Both cases should be positioned at the next show in the list.

I don't know if it was because I was using the HR24 as a client or not but found something interesting with the MRV video breakup.

When I saw a breakup I hit pause, and then using the slow motion forward what it looked like was that part of the video was from a few frames forward that was 'frozen' and then the rest of the video frames were catching up to it.

In this case there was a person standing with their arms stretched out that was the 'frozen' image and every time I did a frame advance there was another copy of his arms that were down by his sides that he was raising up and when his arms got to the same position as the 'frozen' arms the picture was OK at that point.

OTA recording does not display OTA channel number in playlist. I did a test OTA recording to see how it played back via MRV. I recorded Jay Leno on my HR23, OTA ch 6-1 (NBC). However, it showed as being recorded on ch 8 (FOX), which is the next higher SAT channel in the guide on both the HR23 AND H24.

nevermind - just saw that it's a problem on the HR's running the prior CE (38e) - not current, 390 - I missed last week. The other HR's show the same problem as does the HR23 with the local recording.

No sound during playback of OTA recording via MRV. This is not consistent as I tested 5 recordings from 3 HR's today (1 HR20, 1 HR23 and 3 HR21).

An earlier recording of Let's Make a Deal on OTA ch 4-1, HR21 as server, had no sound. Additional OTA recordings on 6-1 (HR23 and HR21), 8-1 (HR20) and 4-1 (HR21) had sound. No consistency as to why no sound on that one recording as additional recordings on same HR and same channel on same HR had sound.

Nope, you are correct, this is a bug in the H24 this week. I reported it about three days ago as well.

I have an update to my issue. I didn't edit my original post just in case DirecTV doesn't go back to read posts over again.

    Report ID: 20100104-2C3B
    Unit: H24-100

Issue 1: Still no audio when playing an OTA recording via MRV. I've tried several OTA recordings and none have audio when played on my H24 and all have audio when played on any of my other units.

Issue 1 Update: This is only on complete OTA recordings. When playing an OTA recording in progress or a partial recording I have audio.

Issue 2: Recordings made via OTA are showing the wrong channel number. The OTA recordings I have were all made on 25-1 WPBF, here in West Palm Beach, but they show up as being on 29 WFLX in the playlist. Recordings made via satellite on the same DVR on the same channel show the correct [25 WPBF] channel.

Issue 2 Update: Not only are the channel numbers off for OTA recordings but so are the logos, probably because they are tied to the channel number but I thought I'd post just in case.

I've not tried this, but you spark a question, try recording MPEG-2 channel as well and chcek it's sound (Channels 72 to 79-ish). I will try to reproduce this as well and report it.

I may have to disconnect my HR21-200 from the AM21 to see if the same thing happens. Humm.

    HR24-500/AM21

Had double play active, ch 36-1 on primary and ch 307 on secondary. Due to the bug with the AM21 messing up aspect ratio when switching from a SD channel I changed the channel from 36-1 to 36 to bypass that problem. The box changed channel and then about a second later the video and audio went away on that channel, I could switch to the other tuner and it was fine but switch back still blank screen/no audio, so I started the report process and came into my office to log this problem. While the report was running the video/audio came back, so don't know how good the report will be.

From the hr21, When I am using group play, the unit will usually freeze at the end of an episode, and say that the unit is busy streaming to another unit now and cannot play the show, when it should be transitioning from one episode to another...

From the hr20's the units has no sound on any shows....

I also had some sporaddic pixilization whilke watching shows from the hr21 to the hr24... I obviously did not watch anything from the ones with no sound... And I did not reset them, I wanted to send the report....

Also, trickplay skip and replay will not work during any portion of padded recording during MRV playback, from any unit to any unit..

H24 still will not connect to the deca unit. I have tried everything I can think of, even what Directv had suggested, and nothing works.... I did what DIrectv suggested on the hr24 and that worked immediately...

At the moment, I have it hooked up to deca, but sense it won;t connect to the internet I can not send a report.. If you would like a report I will hook in up via Ethernet, which I know works...

By the way, the unit does say that the network is coax connected, yet it won't connect to the internet..

You've convinced me that likely the internal H24 DECA component may be a defective unit....but that's just me. Not sure what else you could try that you haven't already done in your reports to get yours to work as it should.

The H24, especially compared to the HR24....is very close to a "plug in and play" installation.

    HR24-500
    Diagnostic Report #: 20100108-12E9

My haunted HR24 "Christine" is responding to completely phantom remote commands again, as it has done three times this week. It currently believes SELECT is being pressed continuously. Earlier this evening it was responding to stray FORMAT commands; cycling the FORMAT button on the remote through all the available formats actually stopped that behavior for about 30 minutes. After the second appearance of the symptom tonight, I even covered the remote sensor on the box to confirm it's not responding to stray IR from the LCD TV or anything. Report being sent. I'll do a menu reset afterwards.
